I haven't had a diet coke for 3 weeks. Well I was food shopping today and there it was, right in front of the check out line, one of those cold cases with all the soda in it. I tried ignoring it, but I swear that the diet coke in there was calling my name. I gave in, I bought one, I drank it, washed down a couple of Prelief with it and now I've been peeing every 15 minutes for the last 4 hours!

Yep...sometimes the bad stuff calls to you and you just can't seem to ignore it. Don't let it get you down. Drink lots of water and wash it out of your system as quickly as you can. There is a famous song from the musical "South Pacific". It goes like this...I'm gona wash that man right out of my hair. Instead of using shampoo, you will be using water to wash that soda right out of your bladder.:) Yes, the water will make you urinate more, but it will also dilute your urine which will in turn help make you feel a whole lot better. Hang in there, this too shall pass. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'm only going every hour now, so I guess I'm back to normal, if you can call that normal. :)
I'm just really surprised that it did that do me. I have been drinking diet coke for years! I actually had to wean myself off of the caffeine first. When I tried to go cold turkey, I had terrible headaches.
I alternated between regular diet coke and caffeine free diet coke until I finally could just drink the caffeine free and then I started drinking the little bottles of it and alternated that with bottled water. I finally quit drinking it all together and only drink water now.
Next I need to work on the smoking. That is a lot tougher. I'll start to cut down and then I'll get stressed out about something or have a bad day or be having a lot of bladder pain and I'll go out and sit on the patio, put my feet up and have a cigarette and I feel much better. I know it sounds crazy that cigarettes make me feel better, believe me I wish they didn't, I'd quit in a heart beat!

Cigarettes make you feel better because you are addicted to the nicotine! Addiction is a powerful thing --- it can make you experience pain when you're trying to beat it and make you feel soooo good when you give in to it. I couldn't quit without a crutch. The one I used was nicotine gum. I couldn't remember how long it's been since I quit smoking, but my youngest son told me the last time he visited that it's been 22 years! I was amazed that he remembered.

I hope someday I'll be able to say that I haven't smoked for 22 years. I think the thing that discourages me the most is that I see alot of my friends quit and then go back to it. My friend quit smoking when she was pregnant with her 2nd child, it made her sick and then 2 years later she started smoking again! I can't even go 2 hours and she did it for 2 years. Maybe I'll give the gum a try. I have bought shorter cigarettes, I usually smoke 100s. Sometimes I cheat though and have 2 especially if I'm on the phone. :shake:

Donna;

I've never smoked, but my whole family has. They have all wondered why I've never even picked one up. Found out you can never beg someone to stop doing something, they have to on their own. My husband, last year had some medical test on him, one was a stress test/EKG and he had to stop drinking caffeine and smoking for 24 hours (at that time I didn't know if that was going to kill him or me! but he did it) anyway, of course, after the testin he went back to the caffeine, but not the smoking as the cardio said he had a small blockage in a artery, high cholesterol, high risk for stroke, and high blood pressure, plus being slightly over-weight. So with all of that going on suggested he stop, and he did, one day at a time. It has been 18 months now. I don't know how much he has saved, but I do know that he feels so much better. He says his sinuses are not as bad, he doesn't snore any more!! and he sleeps so much soundly.
Anyway, as I was writing this, I realized this is a little off track. (sorry!) but smoking is not the best thing for you one way or the other.
