straining to urinate

Is straining every time you go to the bathroom part of a IC symptom.This happens even when my bladder is full.It is so hard to pee..a little comes then it stops then I have to push again.It feels as though something is blocking the passage?

Please talk with your doctor about this. There are medications that will help you to urinate easier. Some that come to mind immediately are Cardura, Flomax, and hytrin. It's never good to strain --- it will just make it worse.

I too had to strain to get a flow going (and stay going) but since going on Elmiron, its improved.

I know many say its hard on you to strain, but i know how you feel. It wouldn't happen unless I pushed. If their is something to help that, go for it

sounds like its your Pelvic floor muscles. I am going thru therapy and I'm using a stimulator. In just a week, I have noticed a big improvement, I still have a very week stream, so we are working on that.
