For the past month I have had symptoms that I thought first was a UTI, went to the dr and they could find no bacteria present and wasn't sure what was causing my symptoms. I was given a shot of rocephin and given bactrim and flagyl. Over the the next week I was feeling better. A couple day s after I stopped the antibiotics my symptoms returned. I then went to my GYN two days ago and she immed. ran yet another urine culture and it came back neg. once again for bacteria. When she examined me she said my bladder is extremely tender, the examine was so uncomfortable. She said she suspects IC but since prior my symptoms improved while being on antibiotic she wanted to try a 10 day trial of ciproflexin. Well, so far it really hasn't helped. She scheduled a ultrasound for next month but doesn't think she will find anything.
Here are my symptoms.
-feeling like my bladder is full
-emptying my bladder probably (18+ times per day..even when must urine doesn't come out)
-sitting in the car is KILLING me (not exactly pain..just discomfort and feeling more of a urge to urinate)
-symptoms worse at night
-pressure (only way I can describe it is ..feeling like you are 9 months pregnant and your bladder is hanging out of you)
-discomfort subsides somewhat when standing or walking
-symptoms worse at night while laying down(can't sleep taking benedryl to help me fall asleep)

I have never felt PAIN...just more discomfort

What do you think I should do???:help:

Thank you!!

:welcome: oH NO...That sounds so familar, I had those same feelings for 40 years....first plan of action is the IC diet, you will find that in the patient handbook on the main page....

:welcome: Sounds like your gyn is on the right track. My ob/gyn was the doc who suspected IC, but he also had me do a trial of an antibiotic just to make sure it wasn't something bacterial.

If I were in your shoes I'd continue to read a lot about IC - the ICN online Patient Handbook is a great place to start if you haven't already: www.ic-network.com/handbook That way you'll be really prepared to work with your doc, who is already suspecting IC. And be sure to ask any questions here - so many here are willing to share their stories and what has worked for them ---- or to point you to more information. :)

That is the worse thing you can do. Pushing like that can cause pelvic floor disfunction.
It does sound like IC. I would consider going to someone that really knows IC. Where do you live?
