Entex to cause flare?

I went to the primary doctor's yesterday because of an ear ache. He said I had no infection but fluid only and gave me a prescription for Entex also known as OTC Mucinex. Has anyone had any flare from this? I am hesitant to use it but my head is off balance because of the fluid. Any suggestions?
