Has anyone tried HS L-methylfolate?

I wrote the company to find out if it was bladder safe and got this back:
-------------------------------
Thank you for your question. The active ingredient in HS Folate is methylfolate (also known as 6S-5-Methyltetrahydrofolate), the predominant form of folate circulating in our body and the same form found in fruits and vegetables. This folate occurs in nature, however it is created (in a Switzerland laboratory) using a patented process to ensure its safety and stability, and has been reviewed and approved by the FDA for use in our nutrition supplements. Bottom line: it is man made (synthetic) from folic acid, yet identical to folate that occurs in nature.

It is difficult to know if HS Folate will trigger your bladder sensitivity. An acid is a compound that, when dissolved in water, produces a solution with a PH greater than 7. With apologies, the PH value of HS Folate is not stated as part of its specification, so it would take a week or longer to research the answer. Also, the PH value of the inert ingredients in HS Folate (gelatin capsule, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and silica) would need to be researched.

Given your condition, PLEASE seek the advice of a doctor or other qualified healthcare professional before you begin taking any nutrition supplement including HS Folate.

Wishing you the best of health,

At least the company rep was honest and warned you that this product could be a problem for you. Definitely talk with your doctor before taking even one.

TOOK HS Folate / a man made but identical to natural folate in every way. No flare. For people who cannot get enough of this important vitamin - and have allergies...it is essential. I'm very pleased. I can take this. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

The company just contacted me. Told me the PH of HS FOLATE is 6.8!!! Just about neutral - so ALL OF US can take it!!! This should be put in the shopping place of this website, it can be a very useful supplement (I do not work for or represent the company in any way). THIS particular brand of Folate HS is important because unlike other products it comes in a clear gel capsule that contains NO FLARE ingredients/you can take it in or out of the capsule.

WHY take folate? Well, if you have IBS or are on a low oxalate diet chances are you are NOT getting enough of this vitamin (like me).
Here is a good article.

So I hope this helps people. Folate is a B vitamin - which we all now can take. Need more B6? Eat chicken. Need B12? Eat tuna fish! Both IBS, low oxalate and IC friendly.

Peace to you.
