Well researching things to add to the Elmiron (been on it 5 months) -
only I don't have allergies that I know about.... I need help with urgency and flare ups really...

1 - Has it helped you?

2- When did it start helping?

3- What symptoms did it help with/?

(it = any antihistamine you take)

I take 75 mg of hydroxzine.. When I don't take it my bladder really knows it..

I couldn't take Atarax, it caused severe water/urine retention. So...I take Claritin in the AM and Benedryl in the PM. I just don't know if it's worked or not. Wish I could help more.

I only take 25 mg of hydroxyzine, but it really helps me out a whole lot. I get the opposite of Rose - if I don't take it then I get some urinary retention. For some reason it really helps me to relax and have a better urine stream.

when does it start working?
On an OTC antihistamine as advised by doc - but dont know when to expect relief? Was doing well with elmiron but in a flare/ symptoms worse for a month now....

I'm also doing clariten in the AM and benadryl in the PM. I think it helped for a while but then started to flare .....probably from stress and taking pseudofed (big no-no for me). so, now I am back on the 2 and watching my diet and meds. I think I am doing a little better. I seem to still have pain every day which gets worse with diet...so I have to be really careful with that but in general I think the 2 together do help me.
I haven't been able to tolerate a lot of the other meds so I have to stick with what I can take.
