Jill gave the OK for this post since many of us can use help with muscle relaxation.

My physical therapist told me about the Migun bed and suggested that I try it. It incorporates the principles of chiropractic, heat therapy, acupuncture, acupressure and massage using heated bulbs and jade massage heads. The Migun "franchises" have about 10 beds in one long room. There is dim lighting, a fountain of trickling water and soft music. You take off your shoes, lay on the bed and the technician sets the program for the bed and you lie there for 30 minutes and the heated jade massage heads massage you from the base of your skull to your ankles. There is also a small heated device that you can put anywhere you want on your front side. I put it over my bladder. When the 30 minutes is up the they bring you a glass of water and send you on your way. It feels so good on my lower back and bladder area. At my location, it is FREE for 60 days. They suggest that you come every day if possible. Their goal is to sell the beds but they primarily sell to chiropractors and physical therapists. They are not pushy because the beds sell themselves. My physical therapist is considering buying one for her practice. If there is a store in your city it's worth going. Go to their website for info on the beds and check for locations in your area www.migunworld.com. Click on Migun Branches or the map of the U.S. and put in your city and state to see if there is one in your area (they are not in all states).

This sounds like it would be wonderful for fibromyalgia pain also! I am hoping there is one near me -- would LOVE to give this a try!:smile tee

... and I'm resurrecting this post because it has more information than I was allowed to post myself. And that's fine - whatever - I have no interest in advertising for Migun.

I just want to know who else has tried their beds and what they think?! I've heard of doing acupuncture for IC and that cost me $90 per visit all last summer - I could only afford it 3 times. Migun gives me 10 visits for $90. What I wouldn't give for the deal they gave you 3 years ago! I only got 5 free massages.

Anyway, I'm really curious as to how their 'technology' with the infrared light and the ion-transmitting jade stones and all that, has progressed so far. It has to be more than some kind of new-age phenomenon. Their testimonials are all over the place, and that makes me suspicious.

But in listening to all the things they "improve," I guess it makes logical sense that the beds help with circulation and blood flow. Reportedly they also elminate toxins in the body. Now the weight loss and cholesterol lowering... yeah I believe it (NOT). I'm having a hard time knowing what to believe. "Bladder problems" is listed with their other conditions improved by the bed, as if it were all the same.

I've done five Migun Thermal massages so far. I went in flaring one time and the flare disappeared while I was on the bed. Then it returned an hour later. Where did it go? Haha. Other times I've just felt kindof dizzy and out of it after getting off their beds, and I'm a little more emotional. That same thing happened with acupuncture last year.

SO what do you all think Migun can do for IC? If anything? I'm going to keep testing it and reporting back... but so far it seems worth trying.

Speaking of all over the place, sorry about this disjointed post. I'm working/posting simultaneously lol.

My sister and brother-in-law actually bought one of the beds - they have it in their basement. I've tried it a few times, but they live a bit of a distance from me and I wouldn't be able to use it on a daily basis to see how it makes me feel. I have lupus in addition to IC, and I feel better after a "session" because it relieves my all-over aches and pains. I haven't noticed any effect on the IC, but the rest of me feels better!
