Ok gang, I am starting a new one, as yep, wow the last one just grew and grew and grew, lmao!!:lmao:
It's no thing D, my dad died back in '89. Oh I can see it now, I could drive the neighbors as crazy as they drive us around here with a drum set!:woohoo: I think all I could afford is one of the kid's sets from like KMart or Walmart, lol. Ah it is fun to dream though, cranking them up at say, oh, 1a.m. or something. It'd drive them crazy!!!!
Oh yeah, the InchWorm. No fond memories anymore, lol. Who knew it was possible to be thrown by a plastic worm with wheels!!!??? I do remember it darkend my two front teeth - and for the life of me, I think they were still baby teeth. If they weren't I am sure (I HOPE, lol) that someone would have been a bit more concerned about them, :lmao: :lmao: Oh heck, leave it to me to be tossed by a worm... I am glad that you have much better memories of the darn thing than I do! That darn Inchworm noise haunts me in my dreams....innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnch crackle crackle, innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnch crackle crackle.......
Oops, almost forgot - the mattress is quite lovely, if I could sleep!! ARGH! First it was too hot upstairs, so I turned on the AC, then I woke up about 3 and was too cold, so got up and turned it off. Then of course I was awake and had to pee. Then at some point kitty decided mommy needed to be awake so I could turn over and let her under the covers...I think tonight will be better....I hope.... lol

Ahhhhhhh, the Photo thread takes on yet another page..:) :woohoo: It's nice thats its lasted this long, and still going strong..:)
Tracey, should we take up a collection so you can get that drum set and annoy the neighbors in the wee early morning hours?..:elvis: I tell ya, now that you mention it I have some neighbors that i would just love to aggravate---at all hours!! :cussing:
Sorry Tracey, but i'm still laughing out loud about the Inch Worm.:biglaugh: Not at the fact that you were thrown from it, moreso that it was possible. The little critter looked so innocent. His little smile, those big eyes. And who can forget the Innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnch crackle crackle sound; I suppose you can, huh Tracey?
Hopefully tonite you'll be able to rest a bit better, Tracey. Last night sounded a tad bit interrupted!
So who's gonna post the first pic for this new thread extension????............

LMAO!! Ok, I almost had water spit all over the key board, just thinking about the dangerous Inchworm...lol. The darn thing hit the crack and just stopped dead and over he and I went - both of us face first... My BigWheel was much safer...unless.... someone decided to be stupid and stand on the back of it and flip you over backwards...Oh great, more childhood trauma remembered. Ugh.
Oh shoot, I am at work so I have no pics to post, that's funny! A photo thread with no photo to kick it off!! LOL!
Ah yes, I went home from work for lunch and hubby was just getting up (on 3rd shift this week) and he said he slept great. Dork.
The Neighbors. I affectionately call them The Clampet's - but that's not really fair, the Clampet's (is it one "T" or 2?) were much more polite than these yahoos. Oh boy. The have a huge wood pile for bonfires, of course right in the front yard, lol, and heaven forbid we stack in neatly or anything. But they insist on cranking up the chainsaw at 10-11pm to cut more! I think they just like to play country folk and cut things up with it, lol. See they just relocated from the city, he retired and here they are. They still think they are in the city, and just up here for vacation or something, with no regards to the people who also live in the neighborhood. Just cause it's "country-ish" doesn't mean we all don't have jobs we have to be up for etc. Ugh, very rude people - now I am not saying all "city" people are like that, please don't take that wrong! ;) It's just these particular ones, lol.;) So, yeah, drums would be fun!!! LMAO!!
Yahoo! Time to go home! Its the end of the work day for this chick!!!!! Get some pics put up D!! ;)

Sharon,
I'm all for pooling our money; I'm assuming that this 'pool' is going to be the down payment for purchasing this spectacular home???? If so, at the moment I can put in about $5.73...no, wait!--make that $6.29--found some money under the couch cushions. :woohoo:
Anyone else want to :help: out????

I've been "out of this loop" for quite awhile since my hubby was so terribly sick for several weeks. Thanks for all your support and prayers! He's doing pretty well now....about 75% recovered.........WHEW!
Glad to see this forum is continuing to grow!
Just thought I'd add a few quick photos. The first is of a rare event. It's a giant flower we had the opportunity to see (and smell---ugh!) blooming last week right here in New Hampshire. It is known as the Corpse Flower (Titan Arum). It's a native of Indonesia. I believe this was only the 159th blooming that has occured world-wide among cultivated Corpse Flowers.

The next is the sun setting on our little cove of the lake.

The last is of the Nubble Lighthouse on Cape Neddick, Maine. There's a little seafood restaurant near this lighthouse where my hubby and I went for a lobster dinner to celebrate my birthday and his recovery.

Jane,
Flickr has changed a bit over the last couple of months; I've been relying on Photobucket as of late. If you want to do this: go to the picture you want to share. Click on "all sizes"; scroll down to "copy and paste HTML into your webpage"; come back here and click on the "insert image" button (next to the last button above-2nd line); paste the image into the box that appears; click "OK". I've done this just to make sure I was giving you correct instructions.

that corpse flower is interesting! I bet it does have a "fragrant" sent with a name like that. I'm also glad your hubby is getting better. That must have been a terrible time for both of you.
Diana,
I think I'll go see if I can remember my user name on photobucket and give that a try. Boy i have so many of these photo things going I can't keep track of them!

Janie, that flower is gorgeous. What kind is it?
Annie, I have heard of a flower like that growing in the Amazon(I think!) and it smells like rotting meat! Pew! Was the 'fragrance' of yours like that? What a wonderful view you have. I'll bet its hard to to wake up to that every morning!
Now can I join in on the "new house" pool? With the current exchange rate my little bit of money could turn out to be quite a lot:lmao:
And Tracey I have to solution to the cost of buying a drum kit....ebay! You could be 'rum-tum-tiddling' before you know it.
Thought I would add my twopenneth worth to the new photography thread.
My brother-in-laws new property in Queensland. I thought you might get a giggle out of it's name "Kentucky". -It's a bit hard to read but the name is on the hanging sign- .....So how much does it look like its namesake? LOL

Annie! Nice to see you and hear everything is going much much better in your world! :woohoo: And Happy Birthday, albeit a bit belated I am sure, lol. I think I would like to swing by your area too on this whirlwind tour seems we are all taking, I have always wanted to go to Maine!!! Got any blueberries? LOL And that is the craziest looking flower I have seen - seriously, thanks for sharing that How tall was it?! Very cool, but sounds like Ro says it may be pretty "stinky", lol. Maybe that's not the right term, hubby teases me that I only want plants with "stink", meaning a nice smell! Ugh, men, lol.
OOOH Janie is that a Zinnia?? Love love love the color! :)
Hmm ebay huh Rosalie? LOL I am afraid of that site - well, I should say my pocketbook is afraid of that site, :lmao: :bonk: Love the land too, that's great! I have always wanted a piece of property I could name, lol. I may have to think up a good name for our little bit here, I am sure Jer would get a kick out of it, lol. Can't really comment on if it looks like Kentucky, as I haven't seen that much of it, but to me it reminds me more of the west - like the certain areas of Nevada, etc. But then again - never been there either, lmao!!!! I LOVE Poodle! He's sooooo cute (or she?) - and I think the name is great, I just hope the pup doesn't have an identity crisis, lol!!!

Nope, Rosalie...it doesn't look like the places in Kentucky where I have been. But it does look like the part of California where I grew up. That is in the center of the state in the San Joaquin Valley. What you might remember seeing on the TV program The Big Valley. It is also known as the Central Valley. If there were foot hills and mountains in the background, I would swear that is where the pic was taken. There are even Eucalyptus Trees there. They were brought in from Australia many, many years ago.
Aha...the notorious Corpse Plant. I have never seen one up close and personal. That is probably a good thing because I understand it smells awfully bad. PU!!!
Annie...I am so glad to see your smiling face once again. I am so glad to hear that Hubby is doing so well. I know you must be so relieved. :birthday:
:woohoo: I just checked. I have $90.00 in my wallet right now. We are well on our way to buying that house. I think I will start packing. :D

Sharon,
Thanks! They are a couple of cuties, aren't they? Well lovebirds definitely live up to their name. They are the most oversexed little critters that ever wore feathers! LOL
Fortunately my green bird is getting old and has slowed down a lot in his old age and he lost his previous "mate" so although he loves this bird - he is a lot less amorous with it! Probably more info than you wanted to know about lovebirds!

So whats our total collection for that house? Another thing I'm wondering about, since the AUS dollar is worth more here, does that mean Rosalie will get the biggest bedroom since she'll technically be contributing more once her money is exchanged? Or maybe that should be vice-versa--since she doesnt have to come up with as much maybe she should get the smallest room.
Speaking of the collection, I managed to up my $6 to a well rounded $20. :)
Jane, what kind of camera did you buy? Did you get tired of the Rebel? And cute birds, by the way. Birds scare me so thats about all I can say for them.:)
I went and ran errands today with a sister and the little guys-a 4 yr old and a 1 yr old--:loco: :dizzy: and of course I took my camera. I'm hoping to atleast have gotten one cute-kid shot; we shall see.:) If so i'll post later.

Diana,
The kids are adorable. They look so cute with the new hair cuts. Sorry about the stylist. People need to think before they talk!
I'm definitely old enough to be my child's grandmother but so far people haven't said anything to my face!
I just bought this new little camera - it is a Fuji FinePix F30. I still have the digital rebel and the Canon A620. I enjoy each of them for different reasons. This new little Fuji is great in low light situations so it is fun to take with me when I'm going to be doing something indoors but don't want to use flash.
Your sister's house looks like it is going to be gorgeous with the fireplace renovation. You'll have to post photos when it is done.

I love those birds! They are so darn cute!!!! Unfortunately I have to say I have the same affliction as D, I am afraid of birds. I know it's crazy, everyone teases me about it since I am an animal fanatic. It's not them really, they are fine when they are sitting on my shoulder or hopping along somewhere, but it's when they fly around that gets me! But those cute little faces, how sweet! Hmmm, how do they feel about human cuddles and kisses? LOL
And yep, I am curious as to what camera you got as well, I am still researching etc for my eventual new one...
Oh D, love the photos. I need to get batteries once again for mine (I know, I should just get rechargables) and remember to haul it around with me!!!! Whoa, that was a lovely house til Mother Nature remodeled it for them!! LOL Yikes!

Thanks for the info on the new camera!! ;) I keep telling hubby I need a new point and shoot as well, he insists on a Dig slr first, ugh. But I need both and the point and shoot easier to come by right now, lol.
I knew I forgot something D! I meant to tell you the kids were total cuties as well!! I worked with a girl who was only 4 yrs older than me and TWICE when we were out shopping on our lunch hour, someone thought we were Mother and Daughter and that she was the mom!! LOL And I still don't have any idea how those people even came up with that. Yeah, we looked like we could have been related, but not like that! Sisters maybe, lol!!!!

Here's a photo I took recently of our 6 month old Shih tzu puppy. I've been taking him to obediance classes and he has been doing great cuz he is really smart. He is going to get fixed tomorrow so hopefully he'll make it through the surgery OK. Apparently little short nosed dogs like this aren't the best at going through the anesthesia so keep your fingers crossed he'll be OK. My dauther would be heartbroken if anything happened to him.

Hey y'all!..:)
Where to start..haha..hmmmmm..oh!..the bird thing...I think i'm a bit wigged out by them simply because they're so prehistoric-like. who knows..regardless, they freak me out..hahaha...however, they are quite cute, especially those little love birds of yours, Jane..:)
Now, on to the grandma incident..grrrrrrr..there is 5 years between Jennifer and me, so how on earth this woman got the idea that I was the grandma is beyond me! She attempted to back-track talking about how young grandma's are today, yadda yadda, and for me "not to take it personally"..yeah right, lady! I'm sitting there next to the mother who is only 5 years my junior and i'm NOT suppose to take it personally??..uh huh..I'll remember that next time this happens..:cussing:  Of course, though the first thing I did after she said this was look in the mirror at my gray hair. My gray hair will stay gray cause each one of those grays has a story that I'm not going to hide!
The sisters fireplace renovation has been nothing but chaos and a headache..ahahahaha..She also had a kitchen renovation going at the same time--that too was a headache--still is actually since she's finding little things that need to be redone. I will post pictures of when its completed though!..:)
Jane, that little dog is pure sweetness. I'll keep the little critter in mind tomorrow as he undergoes surgery. Do post and let us know that he's OK.
Tracey, you must get rechargables...you must..you must..haha..and most importantly, keep them charged!..:) ..Oh! and remember to drag the camera along on your excursions. :D

Oh Janie!! It's almost scary! How very very neat - it's like one of those trick photos, I didn't see the Mantis until you pointed it out! I was too busy admiring the flower and the butterfly! Thanks for asking about MuShu (our Shih Tzu puppy) - yes he is fine. He's home now and as cute and ornery as ever! I've been chasing him around the house half the evening because he inevitbably has one of my daughter's shoes in his mouth. He's quite the little scamp but smart as can be. I think I mentioned he's been going to obediance classes and he's the best one in the class - not just a proud "mama" speaking - he actually won a toy for being the best trained puppy!
I hope when he matures he'll grow out of this chewing stage - it's his one bad habit I have a tough time dealing with.
dg2901

Well thats great to hear about little MuShu. If you're having to chase him around the house already thats a sure sign he's not bothered too terribly much about the surgery..haha.......And how cool that he's infact the best trained puppy in his class..:woohoo: Now if you can get him from chewing that would be great!..haha..I dont know what advice to offer there--none of our dogs have been chewers, thank goodness! I'm sure though that the obedience trainer should have some ideas to help you and MuShu along.
Jane, be proud of your little dogs obedience accomplishment--my mother-inlaw's dog got kicked out of obedience school cause he was too dumb to comprehend...:biglaugh:

Talking about dog obediance classes, we had a lot of dogs drop out of the last class before the final "test" - that was when MuShu won his toy. We've got a big class again this time and so far most of the dogs seem like they are doing pretty good. I imagine MuShu will have a lot of competition for that "best trained" toy this time around.
I was secretly afraid the anesthesia might do something to his brain but he came home and ran through his whole routine and didn't miss a lick - "sit stay" "down stay" "stand stay" "heel" and all the other stuff he's learned. He is not hurting at all from his surger either. I guess a male dog getting neuetered isn't as big of a deal as a female getting spayed.

Jane, thats what you get for freaking me out with the photos you posted--I hope you really had to fight that doughnut craving!!!!...:biglaugh:
<makes note to stop by KK tonite for doughnuts>
So little MuShu has competition this time huh? Remind the little guy that he must pay attention and do as he's taught so he can walk away with that reward toy again..haha..too cute! :puppy:
Re: male vs female "fixing"--we had our female spayed a few years ago and it took her a good week to start acting normally. Granted she was alot older when she underwent the surgery so that might have played a role in her taking awhile to get back to normal; it also screwed her up mentally for a few days too. She would go around the house and collect all my stuffed animals and M&M's (i'm a huge M&M fan), bring them back to where she was laying and act as if they were her pups..very strange!.. :)
It sounds like little MuShu didnt miss a beat! :)
How I'm off to do something productive...maybe..:)
Have a safe holiday weekend!!!

Oh yeah, that moon shot is great! Holy moly! Did you just have your camera on a tripod? My cousin-in-law has some great moon shots as well, he took them hooking his camera somehow up to his telescope, really really cool!!! Oh and did you manually set your settings?
I better get my butt in gear and get snapping, lol. (pssst, you'd never know he was neutered from the picture...lol)

Hey y'all!!!! :hi:
I'm still around, just havent posted in a few days to this thread. I havent been anywhere interesting to take any photos as of late so really didnt have anything to post..:help: Although I had a melee' with a neighbor the other night that would have looked quite nice on film!!..:cussing:
Jane, I was going to ask if you used a tripod for that moon shot. You must have extremely steady hands. I use all the tricks in the book about how to take a steady shot and still get alot of shake. I'm assuming the Canon DR has anti-shake either in the body and/or the lenses? I so wish I would have bought a camera with that feature. And i'm like you re: tripods.haha..too much like work!..:lmao:
Tracey, now why havent you gotten any rechargables yet? I want to see the rest of your flower beds before summer is over.....<waiting>
I might possibly have some pics this weekend; we're going house hunting and with any luck the sellers/agents will allow us to photograph anything we might be interested in. If so, I'll post.
Til next time..

Wow Janie, I am with Diana, lol - I always have a shake, ugh. As far as I know, the only one with the anti-shake tech is the Minolta dig SLR, so you are crazily steady handed!!! ;) Unless... now I know you can get anti-shake lenses I believe.... That could be a cute ad for getting pets spayed and neutered - a before and after shot, showing that it doesn't make your pet any different, so might as well get it done!! :)
Yeah, I know D. I have been seriously slacking, but nothing as of late to photograph, sigh. Think I will get some batteries - one kind or another, this weekend and get some more pics of the garden, still going strong. That's just crazy too!!! LOL
Oh well, better get my butt in gear and get ready for work - bleck!

Now Diana, not to diminish the seriousness of your boo boo, but how many people would go and take a picture while the blood was still running! One in a million!.........:lmao:
My daughter, Hilary handed in her final work for her end of year assessment. With all the rush of getting her photos organized, framed etc, I forgot to scan them. So these pics were taken in a hurry before they were packed up for school......hence the flash flare! But i was so proud of her work that I wanted to post them anyway.

Sharon, I did infact stage the knife accident hoping to be lucky enough to get just the right shot. After the fact, you know once the blood started to drip and the throbbing of the finger tip started with each beat of the heart, I realized how dumb this attempt was.:loco: .......Well, actually thats not the whole truth--I, for some unknown reason, decided to slide my finger up the serrated blade while washing the knife..dumb huh?.haha..As far as the camera coming to mind, I'm a member of a group on Flickr known as the "page of pain" and I've never had the opportunity to post a pic to that thread of anything thats happened directly to me...soooooooo, figured before cleaning up I'd run grab the camera and see what I could capture..taaaa daaaaaa!:D

Oh my goodness, I am behind aren't I! Ro, your girl is fantastic! Who was her model? Love her stuff, how fun!!!
And D, lol, why does that look like something I would do? I wish now I'd have thought about snapping a pick when I cut my hand on a glass a while ago, lmao!!!! I don't think I have ever had blood drip like that day! Geesh! It was my fault, I had some glasses stacked (yes dumb, I know), went to walk by the island, caught the bottom of one of the stacks, smashed it and before I knew what had happened I had a lovely cut. Problem was the broken glass bottom stopped, and my hand stayed in motion, ugh. Dumb. Even dumber to not get a picture!! LOL
And dingy here worked at hubby's family cabin all weekend with the inlaws and forgot her camera every day, lol. But, hubby and I have to go back and do some finishing work for them, so I will take it then!!! :) If I can remember... LMAO!!!!

Oh Nooooooo...the jig is up. I've been caught and outed. Hello...my name is Sharon and I am a lurker. :lmao:
To tell the truth, I am not a natural picture taker. A camera is the last thing I would think to take anywhere with me. But D...you accuse me where I am innocent. :tsk: I did post 1 picture. It can be found on page 2.
You will never know how much torture that 1 picture was for me. I hate having my picture taken, but I had a temporary loss of control :loco: and let my hubby take it. He is the photographer in our family. He has all the gadgets and cameras. One of these days, when our life settles down a bit, we are going to go through his pictures and post some of them. He is pretty good and takes some interesting pictures. Is anyone interested in seeing some pics taken in Kabul, Afghanistan a couple of years ago? There is even one of me in native clothing made by Afghans. No...not a burka, but what professional women wear. Although, we do have lots of pics of women in burkas and I have worn one.
Now about Janie and Rosalie...I think they are the same person. Kinda like Superman and Clark Kent...only women. The trick here is to figure out which one of them has the superpowers and which one is the mild mannered reporter. :D ;) :hmm:

Ugh, nope, haven't gotten rechargables yet, lol. When we were at Kmart getting these hubby said again, "we really need to get rechargables one of these days", lol. I told him yep, but right now, 8 dollars is easier to come up with than 30, lmao!!! :)
I think that's a fabulous idea D, I need to leave mine with my stuff for work, etc. Right where my purse is etc. I also need a bigger card, my nice big one died, and I am stuck with one that you can only get 16 high res pics on, lol. So, it's snap 16 times then run to puter and download and on and on and on. Get's tiring, lol.
Oh yes Sharon!! I want to see!! Those sound totally interesting!!! Do show do show!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease???? (Come on D ask really nice and maybe she'll do it!!! - Uh oh, did Sharon hear me??)
I think Sharon may be on to something there, have they ever been on at the SAME time?? Hmmmmm........

Sharon--I beg of you to post those pics of Afghanistan! Please! Pleeeaaaseee! And ya know what, I do indeed stand corrected about you having never posted and simply being a lurker. Please accept my apologies..:)
Tracey, Tracey, Tracey, you and those rechargables. I think you've made it into a little game for yourself, to see just how long you can infact go w/o buying them..haha..Should we start taking bets as to just how long this purchase is going to take?
And what happened to your camera card? Its a bummer when they croak aint it? I had one that I accidentally killed, hubby went and bought another one only for that one to start malfunctioning the first time we used it..grrrr! Between the time of purchasing a new one I too was having to snap, upload, snap upload, etc..very frustrating indeed!
Come to think of it I dont ever recall Janie and Rosalie being online at the same time. Sharon, I think you may have cracked their scheme. If this is infact true, I would have to say that Janie is the mild-mannered reporter and Rosalie is the one with the super powers..:hmm: I assume this by their writing patterns; :hmm: perhaps I may be wrong and they both have us all fooled....:hmm:
Going to hunt down something for dinner.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the kind comments about the videos. It is super easy to upload to youtube so if you guys have little videos I would love to see them - diana you have to upload the one of kenneth on the thrill ride!! Youtube really compressed the soccer one too much and it looks terrible compared to the actual little video but at least it doesn't take too awful long to download. I think I like putfile.com better it doesn't mess with the files as much and they look better.
Tracey if you get another point and shoot - i'm totally in love with my little fuji finepix takes great photos and really good video too and it is a pretty tiny camera.

This is a picture of a local hero. Afghans do not have decortive pictures on their walls. They usually only have 2 pictures displayed in their living rooms...One of President Karzi and one of this man (Masood). He was a resistance leader who was killed on Spet. 9, 2001 when a journalist asked if he could take a picture of the hero. When he took the picture, the camera exploded...killing everyone.

Sharon, what wonderful pictures!! I surely hope you continue to share! :) I have to ask, was this trip a vacation for you and your family?
Tracey, the MAC seems to be OK, however I'm puzzled as to why it would suddenly decide to 'eat' a cd. This 'puter is only 3 months old so nothing should be wrong with it to cause it do that. I did infact get the label out of the drive; when I attempted to put in another cd it was as if something was stuck inside the drive slot and not allowing disks to enter.:cussing: ..After 3 tries I decided to restart and everything seems to be fine now...whew!!! I think though I'm going to take it in to the Apple store (that just opened last week!-what timing!.haha) and see if they can check it it out to make sure nothings wrong with it.
Now, re: getting the video flipped right-side up--nope! The Canon video program that I have doesnt seem to want to work properly on the MAC. Soooooooo, I suppose I'll have to reload my software onto the PC, rotate the video, reburn it, then bring upload...<sigh>..............oh well! one day I'll be able to share..ahahahahahaha...
i'm off to get ready to take the youngin' up to his school to order his class ring. Maybe I'll take the camera with me! If so I'll have pics to post later this evening of the local high school munchkins/hoodlum's..:lmao:

Oh wow Sharon - thank you for sharing those, they are amazing! I was wondering the same thing as Janie about the sample and copyright stamp!!??
Isn't that how some (most) of the women there earn a living? Since they aren't allowed to work, they beg?
D, it's most fortunate a new Mac store just happened to open near you - coincidence? I think not.....
OH! Class ring, how fun!! As soon as my highschool boyfriend got his, he wore it for a week or so, then it went on a chain around my neck, lol. Same with his letter jacket.... And now, looking back as an adult and how much those rings cost - there's no way I'd let my kid let some girl wear it!! LMAO!!!! But it's tradition, so I suppose I would give in... *sigh*

Note to Jill, Donna, etc...No, I am not trying to sell anything here. Just wanted to show the photogs some interesting pics.
The trip to Kabul, Afghanistan was not what I would consider a vacation. After all, who in their right mind would go to Kabul for vacation? Okay, okay...we all know I am not in my right mind, but forget about that. :lmao:
This trip was taken to teach the new government of Afghanistan leadership skills. A skill that is lacking because of the history of that country. A group of 7 people were in our team in May 2004. We were in-country for 10 days. It is an ongoing, quartely conference. Hubby has been twice; me the one time.
I was hoping that ya'll wouldn't notice the "Sample" sign in the middle of the pics and the "copy-right" notice. Kinda like, don't notice the elephant in the middle of the room.
Hubby is a semi-pro photographer. He has a studio in a room upstairs of our house with all the cameras, lights, etc. (The pic of me that I have posted was taken up there.) He has been published in the local newspapers and on local TV. He would not let me send you his pics without the notations.
Yes, there are many Burka Babes walking around in the streets, begging. Especially where non-locals go. It is not a rule any longer that women cannot work...many do. Nor is it law that women must wear the Burka in public. (Most women do cover their hair with long scarves or shawls, but they no longer cover their faces.) Usually the women who wear the Burkas and beg are widows from the many years when the Taliban were in control. If rules were broken...people would be killed. That left a lot of women and children alone without the man in the family. Others wear the Burka because they are poor and cannot afford to waste the covering. It sometimes doubles as a coat in cold weather.
I have had one on. Wore it for a re-inaction of Kabul, here. Hubby says he took a picture of "the Blue Ghost" (me in blue Burka) while I was wearing it. We will look for the pic and will post it when we find it.
If you are interested and if I have not bored you to death, I will post a few more of our pics of Afghanistan. I have to wait until Hubby and I are able to go through the thousands he took while we were there. The ones I have already posted were pulled for another reason. Let me know if you want to see more.

Work like you don't need money,
Love like you've never been hurt,
And dance like no one's watching.
Your life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. Alfred D Souza said, "For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life."
The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when?

Eyecandy, welcome to this post!
Tracey, I will knock Kenneths head off if he even so much as thinks about letting some girl wear his ring!..haha..Damn things are way too expensive for that nonsense. Although, like you, I wore my boyfriends class ring. Looking back now that I'm on the buying end of this business, it was stupid for him to give it to me and his momma shoulda beat him for doing so..:biglaugh:

I'm away for a few days and this thread goes berzerk! Now for the suggestion tghat Janie and I are a Superman/Clark Kent act... I am flattered with the notion that I could be such a photographer as Janie, but, alas! I can't take the compliment. No, Janie and Rosalie are, indeed two different people.
I laughed myself silly at the antics of MuShu Janie. Puppies are such fun to have around the place. Our new canon can take short videos and when it returns to Oz from Europe, I will try to post something too.
I'm posting another of Hilary's final pieces although the picture doesn't do it justice. It is a joiner piece. There are about 8 different photos each mounted on 3ply mdf and joined to make up the one picture. The whole thing was later mounted on black painted board. The 3 dimensional effect is quite eyecatching and I want this one for my wall when the work assessment have been comlpeted. A number of her pieces have been earmarked for a year 12 students competition here called 'top arts' so I may have to wait a while to get them up.

Your garden is gorgeous Martha! The Aussie natives seem to be coping with this drought much better than the exotics. I am about to launch into my gardens and had been going to plant some roses and giving the annuals a big miss this year... too much water! But now I think the grevillias should be the go.Thre are so many beautiful varieties around.
The geraniums are another good one. Your red one is lovely. I may go down that track as well. Any other suggestions? Hahahaa I should start a gardening section but most of the posters are in the wrong season for us.LOL

Jane--good morning to you, dear! Now, I want to know what I've done to you to make you post that scary mantis picture????? I see you cleary avoided this question in my earlier post..:lmao:
Nothing irks me more than all the building thats going on nowadays! Whereever there happens to be a free spot of land some developer/builder comes along and crams a house or condo's on it. Nevermind all the wildlife thats now homeless, or the trees that have to be cut down in order to satisfy someones wallet. I could go on and on about this, so I digress..........
On to a more happier topic..or maybe a not so happy topic.....Re: my camera..hmmmmmmmm..........well.......... .....can I plea the 5th here?..
My stomach is growling so I need to go wrangle up something for lunch. Maybe I'll fix myself a shark and mantis sammich. Yeah! that sounds scrumpdillyumptious!

Jane's pic of the house being built is typical for the Memphis area. There are several builders who love to bulldoze trees and any other fauna that gets in their way. Then, when the building is all done, they plant a few very "sorry" twigs and tell us...see, we are tree friendly.
The mantis pic was great. Love those critters. They are so strange. D...did you know that the female eats the male after they mate? Now that's a strange way of having "after glow". :lmao:

Diana, I think some people really do eat shark don't they? I don't know how it would be garnished with mantis though! ;-) I would imagine it would be totally IC friendly though don't you? Nothing that awful would hurt our bladders - only the good stuff like chocolate and coffee! Heh Heh
Sharon, you are right there are subdivsions going up all over our area and the builders are doing the same thing. I don't know why they are continuing to build so much , hasn't anyone gotten the word yet that there is a slow down in the housing market????
dg2901

Sharon has managed to get into the group of those who like to put images into my head. So now I have to deal with the mantis, me being on its menu, and now the "after glow" of the female...:help: I'll never be the same!!! :loco:
Jane, yeah people do eat shark..haha..I've eaten it a couple of times in NC. Funny that I've lived by the ocean all my life here in VA and have never seen it on the menu...hmmm, wonder if theyre protected here..?? <makes note to self to inquire about this>........Now re: the mantis being bladder friendly--fortunately I'm not able to testify to this since after careful thought and consideration I opted NOT to go mantis hunting for my lunch today. :lmao:

Hi all, yes my ugly ancient rotting fence is GONE! Hoo-bloody-ray! And before we started I raced in to get my old, but trusty 2megapixal kodak and grrrrrrrrrr......I think it caught Diana's camera's disease... wouldn't work!. I do have a picture archived somewhere and as soon as I can work out whats wrong, I will take some shots of the fenceless yard!
I told my friend Tom who virtually cut the thing down for me, that the neighbours are going to be putting congratulatory notes in the letter box... hahah well that is as soon as I put up the new one.
Now for the eating of sharks.. we call it 'flake' and it is the most popular fish at the fish and chipperies. Why, I had it for dinner last friday garnished with alas! no mantis but tartare sauce and a nice fresh salad.
I grew up on the stuff, every friday night... ah! for the good old catholic not eating meat on fridays....mum loved not having to cook for eight on fridays!, just send one of the hoard up to Micky Fins fish and chip shop in Williamstown road.
And being married to a town planner, I am shocked that developers can get away with bulldozing ancient trees. But I know they have ways of getting around such things. We have a dissused blue metal quarry accross the road which has been re developed for housing. It had been surrounded by very old and magnificent cypress pines, till the day they were wrenched out. It was a horrible thing to watch.

Diana I forgot to thank you for the shark pic but it is the REAL ones that scare me. I am always very uncomfortable swimming in the ocean because of them. I had a past life experience once where I was eaten by one.....ugh! Still makes my skin crawl thinking about it.

I had forgotten all about those silly inchworms!!! When i had my first child, my sister thought it would be FUNNY to buy him one for his first birthday!!! That kid loved it, but he would not ride it! He would just pick the front up and DRAG it EVERYWHERE with him! Now they say paybacks can be...fun..so..17 years later...when she decides to have her second child(they are 15 years apart.) AND she was 38...i bought that kid EVERYKIND of LOUD toy i could find!! That toy you push and those balls pop-pop-pop---so much louder than when my kids were small! And when he turned 3 i bought him a small swimming pool, the kind you blow up and then went to the toy store and bought the box of 100 balls..and put in all in her living room before she got in from work..and since i had already given it to him and he was playing in it...she had to keep it!! Come to think of it...it is time for another toy!! He just turned 5--I think the DRUMS would be a great idea!!LOL:lmao:

Gorgeous lily Martha. Do you get many real frogs in your garden?
Amazing pics of the bison Janie. The only one I have ever seen is in the zoo here in Melbourne. Wooly critters hey!
Diana, did you ever find out exactly what was wrong with your camera?
JlP, nice to meet you.
Funny thing about noisey toys, I have four brothers all but the second oldest producing kids, plus my effort as well. This brother Ken, thought it a great joke to give them all the noisyest toys he could find. You know they say "what comes around, goes around". When he was 50 he and his wonderful younger partner started having children. Fours years later they had four kids including a set of twins. Can you just imagine my other brothers (who by now were grandfathers) gifts for ALL these kids? :lmao: Needless to say, it is an extremely noisy household!
Hi! It is nice to meet you! I think it funny that people give gifts to the kids, (to drive the parents crazy-LOL)that we as parents, would not want for our kids to have, because they are noisy!! I also gave my nephew the set of plastic bowling balls and pins, when he was 2! That way, my sister had to keep helping him over and over picking up the pins!! It was so funny! And he loves those little bouncy balls, and he would throw them down the hall and they would bouce everywhere.....She told me that all of this had to stop!! LOL I told her that she started it by buying the silly inchworm(in 1983) and lots of noisy toys for him! And since i had my boys 21 months apart...there was lots of toys! She has a daughter that is 18 and her son just turned 5! I think it worked better this way, because she was always saying how her daughter had out grown the noisy toys and she would say that she was not having any more kids! Then years later, she remarries a younger guy, who wants a baby and so began the Noisy Toy Revenage!!!LOL
Rosalie--that reply was for you..i forgot to put your name on it, i hope you get it!

jlp - that cracked me up!!! My girlfriend and her brother do the same things to one another, I can remember shopping with her for the noisiest toys we could find!!!! :) In times like that - glad I am an only child, so when I have kids, no one to have the Toy Battle with!!! LMAO!!!

Jeannie--nice to see you posting to this thread. By all means break out the camera and show us your stuff..:)
Rosalie--its a funny thing that I never actually found out the exact problem with the camera. Its almost acts as if it took a flying leap, though that couldnt be true; one would have to be a hot head (:cussing:) to send their camera flying..wouldnt they? :hmm:
Tracey--the mantis phobia is slowly passing since Jane has decided to post cute and fuzzy things recently.:)...Sorry to hear that you've been unwell the last few days. Hopefully today will be a much better day for you and you'll be back on your feet in no time!..:D
Martha--you flowers pics are so cheery! Here in VA the flowers are starting to go into hiding for the upcoming winter, so its nice to see the warmth thats coming from your part of the world..:D

Hey D, looks like a spider flower, but not the right foliage. Hmmm, looks like it may be bulb of some sort, where abouts do these pop up??? And for a "weed", they sure are pretty!!!! (Probably deadly poisonous, lol, that'd be MY luck!)
Glad to see the camera is back in business!!!! Woo hoo!!!!!

Tracey--those "flowers/weeds" just pop up in my flower bed out of nowhere this time of year. And they grow rather quickly--one day theyre fairly small, next couple of days theyre over a foot tall with all the flowery blooms. They hang around for a month or so then die and totally disappear. Theres a large university based botany lab not too far from me--i'm thinking about digging one of theses "plants" up and taking it to them for evaluation..:hmm: Meanwhile I'll check out this 'spider flower' that you've mentioned :)
Sharon--I kinda like the little things too; and they are in fact most unusual. I've never thought about them being "halloweenie" looking...hahaha..Maybe they'll stick around til the end of the month..:)

I swear Meatball looks like he is smiling in that first photo! Or maybe he was saying "cheese"!!
Tracey, as for the town square - it is from a town that is about a 45 minute drive from us so that was the first time I had went during autumn but i think they do a lot of decorating for the holidays down there.

Jane--I relayed the "hi" from MuShu to Meatball. :puppy: :)
Tracey--I checked out the drumstick allium as well. While its a bit similiar it still doesnt fit the exact look. Could very well be a 'cousin' though. I guess if I really want to know what it is I'll have to dig one up and take it on to the botany lab. However, since you've mentioned something about them possibly being "deadly poisonous", I'm a bit hesitant. :lmao: cause that would be my luck as well. Maybe I'll let sleeping dogs be..:D

Hey D, lol, I hear you on the poisonous thing, I swear that would be my luck, lol. But I have to say, our house is surrounded by poison ivy - I am not kidding, it's everywhere in the back jungle (my backyard) and all along the property lines etc, and I have yet (knock on wood) have any troubles from it. And the funny thing is I never knew what it looked like before, l think until this year, lol!! So cripes I could have been weeding it all along...who knows.....
I do think it would be worth it to find out what they are, they are cool looking!!! Seems my hubby said his brother has these things in the yard of the new house he just moved into, that just pop up with no leaves - just stem and flower...hmmm, I may ask him to peek at your picture and see if they are the same thing....

Tracey,
Welcome to the photography forum. hope to see some pix from you soon.
Have you found a doctor since Dr. Doggweiler left? I used to see her too but am looking for a new doctor when my prescriptions run out. Thankfully, the angel that she was. she left me with a year's worth of prescriptions so i've had some time to find someone else.
Claredale

Hi Janie, What part of the area do you live in? Dr. Ragi said that the doctor that was replacing her would be able to take care of me. But, I have I went to her a couple of times. She only has appts on Fridays, so there is no such thing as you are in a flare, come right now and I will fit you it! I emailed Dr. Ragi after I googled the new doctor at UT and couldn't find anything related to her treatment of IC. She also was a believe in pain meds. The best meds that work for me is Loratab and as long as I have a supply on hand I don't go in to those panic attacks that I am running out of meds and I have to start hoarding them. She tried to put me on Morphine 1 time a day. I like to have more control, since there are times that I don't need pain meds. I also do not EVER go to sleep. I have terrible urgency and freq. So Dr. Ragi was a sweetheart and calmed me down and referred me to Dr. Ling. He is not far from the UT office . He is nice enough, but doesn't take much time with me and also I have to go to another doctor that is only in town a couple days a week to have my interstim adjusted. I have had to call his office in tears several times and still don't hear from him for sometimes 12 hours. My next appt is 10/17, so I am going to tell him all my feelings. I know that he is sick of hearing how wonderful Dr. Ragi is, blah blah blah. but I had confidence in her and she made me feel like I was someone she cared for.
Dr. Ragi gave me lots of meds, but my implant wasn't working as well as the first one so there are times that I am eating the loratab like they were M & Ms.
I am having a fairly good day today and hope it carries on through the weekend!
It was so good to hear from you !!!!

Hi tracey,
I'm planning on seeing Dr. Ling next month. I hope he will keep me on the same meds that Ragi had me on. Thankfully, my symptoms are very well controlled and most of the time I feel really good now. I mean, i still have bladder symptoms but I can live with them. Do you think dr. ling will keep me on the elmiron and hydroxyzine. Those seem to hlep me the most. I'll PM so we can chat more.

Hi all. Haven't been around for awhile because, since Steve recovered from his illness, we have been so busy getting out and enjoying our remaining time in New Hampshire. We head back to Ohio this next week. The next few days are going to be hectic packing up after spending the summer in our beloved NH and then driving West so I won't be around for a few more days. Once back in OH I'll be back with you regularly. Until then, I thought I'd post a few recent pics from NH.

Our daughter a month ago as she was about to board her plane for London. We're so proud of her! She was accepted to a master's and PhD program at the University College of London so she gave up her wonderful job in DC, stored her belongings, spent a week visiting with us in NH and then moved to London. We miss her so, but are proud of her and happy this long-time dream of hers is coming true:

Well, I tried to get a couple of pictures tonite of the electrical transformer that blew up behind my house tonite thus knocking out our electricity for a little while. Tracey--I was browsing through Flickr last night and came across a picture of those exact "flowers" that I've posted that are in question. According to this persons photo tags, it seems these flowers are in the Tiger Lilly family.
Martha--nice pics!
Now, unfortunately something has come up in my immediate family thats going to take most of my attention over the next several weeks, and with this I can tell I'm not going to be in much of a picture-taking mood until this mess settles down--i've posted a prayer request in the appropriate section on here. I feel a special closeness, if you will, with those that post on this thread so I felt I needed to explain as best I could here as well.
So, until the normalcy comes back into my life, I wont be around much.

Hey, everyone! :hi: I'm finally back. Now I have a lot of catching up to do on this thread as I missed so much while I was gone and hubby was so sick.
Janie, your MuShu is absolutely adorable!!!!! Shih Tzus have such wonderful personalities. Yesterday I went for a hair cut (human grooming, but don't know if I smelled any better afterwards :lmao: ). The sister of one of the stylists at the salon brought in her black and white Shih Tzu. He absolutely loves to be dressed up in human clothing and looked quite dapper in a denim jacket with a black and white check hat and matching scarf. He just sat up on his haunches and posed for everyone to admire him. Wished I had my camera with me!
Tracey, your Mollie looks like such a lovable dog. What a beautiful, lush coat she has!
Now off to try and catch up with this thread so I can see what you all have been up to.....lots of mischief, I bet!

Sharon, those 2 pictures were the only ones out of about 15 that were clear enough to post..its amazing how much camera shake there is when worried about being attacked by a bug!
Tracey, those funky flowers I posted a couple of weeks ago are not Tiger Lily's, but rather Spider Lily's. The guy on Flickr who had them posted emailed me to give me the correct name..:)

Oh...I forgot to say that the little angel doll that Mollie has was one of her favorite babies. It was actually a kid's toy. I said the prayer "Now I Lay Me Mown to Sleep". She loved it and my son's Lab that removes all squeakers, etc from toys messed her up. Mollie knew how to put her paw on the middle and it would talk. After the disection, my poor Mollie would follow me around with it in her mouth. It was so sad.
Her babies get put away when Maggie comes visiting from now on!

And very nice to see you around Annie! Nice having you back!
I must get busy with the camera, I took some fall mum pics, but haven't done anything with them yet. Ugh. Been a busy week. My hours have changed at work, so I don't have as much time on the home puter that I used to - totally stinks. So, hopefully this weekend I can get cracking!!!!!
MuShu reminds me of my calico cat Cali (whoa, say that five times fast!! LOL), she was the best photography subject ever! Wow, she'd sit and pose so nicely, lol. But now, her sister Missy, what a little bugger to get a shot of. The minute you get down to her level to take the shot, she comes over to you for petting, lol.

Tracey, what do you think about baby squirrels and raccoons? I have a friend that works with rescue wildlife. The raccoon is quite spoiled and comes and visits me for tootsie rolls. It's not me in the picture! The squirrel is 4 weeks old and was rescued from a cat. I am holding it in my hand. The squirrel is now off probably up in someone's tree now.
The donkey was my friend a couple weeks ago when I went to Arkansas on a church retreat.

My husband is proud of the pictures. My step dad and mom were bringing us back home from Heber Springs and my step dad got permission for us to circle the city on the way in. The Northwest planes were coming in, so it was interesting watching the entire thing. Since it bothers me so much to ride in a car for long, my step dad will fly over and get us. 55 minute flight versus a 3 hour car drive!
I don't work with animal rescue, but I would love to get a license to. It requires some hoops to jump through and alot of time. My friend that does this tells me that it takes alot of her personal time, but it's really worth it. I have always loved animals.
Janie, I went to see Flicka last night. Have you thought about taking Maggie? I was such a horse freak when I was a kid. I drew horses and read about horses all through childhood. Since my interstim, I was told not to ride horses, but when we went to Arkansas on a church retreat, I went on a trail ride. It was slow paced but it was good to be on a horse again. I wanted to just take off and run, but even without the implant, I knew I would be sorry!
Love the picture of your daughter's eye!!! I can't wait to meet her!!! When we got our digital camera, I almost signed up for a class, but as ya'll know, it is so hard to plan ahead when you have flares that come up.
I hope everyone is having a great day!!!!

Yum Yum, those donuts look yummy. I need to lay off those though. I have gained soooooo much weight.
Diana, i did try to do that with the eye photo. I must have taken 50 shots to get that one good one. Thank heavens we have digital cameras right? LOL
Tracey, i'm looking forward to getting together with you soon. Today i took Maggie to that Cedar Hill farm over in Mississippi with all of her other friends from China. We were over there all day. Tomorrow the little princess is going to a Birthday Party after church. Next week I am finally getting my countertops done!
Sharon, I ended up getting granite. The guy has done part of the tops and is finishing up next week. I'll post a photo when it is done. It took four slabs of granite to do our kitchen.
Anyway, Tracey, I think the following week things should be settling down a bit so hopefully we can get together then.

The doughnuts provide negative fat calories so no worries, Jane. Besides, taking those 50 shots I'm sure burned up your caloric intake for the day.And if not then, running after your daughter and her little friends at the farm surely was a workout .haha...I'm assuming you took that picture with the Canon DR? Hi Diana,
I used my Canon Powershot A620. I have three cameras which I use for different reasons. The Canon Powershot is a great camera because it is not big like my Canon Digital Rebel. So it is good to take on outings like today when i don't feel like lugging around a heavy camera and a bunch of lenses. The Canon A620 has some fun features - like their panorama mode - which helps you take a bunch of photos and then using their software you can stitch them together and make one long one. It also has good settings like one for Kids and animals so it helps you to take a photo that is a bit less blurry if the subject moves.
I had to use photoshop to fix this photo up a bit. The goat was behind a fence so i had to clone out a bunch of the fence around his face.
This was the shot before:

I LOVE photoshop! I use it a lot to make many average photos look a lot better! Okay, I admit it --- I cheat! ;-)

Jane...I am so glad you are finally getting your countertops done. It has been a long journey for you. Four slabs...you must have one huge kitchen. What color did you choose? I showed Hubby your picture of your daughter's eye. (He is the photog in our family) He loved it. I also like your "kid" pic.
Tracey and Jane...I am jealous that you are getting to met each other. It is so rare that we actually meet each other in the flesh. Take lots of pics so we can all take part.
D...I am sorry. I could not get to you and your doughnuts in time to help you get rid of them. They do look yummy, though.

Jane--thanks for the info re: the picture. I would have bet you had used the DR--i would have lost!. I have the Canon G6--its darn near identical to the A620. Though for some reason they stopped making the G6 and, since just now checking out the Canon site, I see that they've introduced the G7..grrr!. Oh well! You must share how you manage to keep your hands so steady!
Sharon, no problems with not making it to help clear out the doughnuts. Between the family and a couple of friends who stopped by, theyre all gone! Fortunately we only splurge on these every 2-3 months. We used to live down the street from the KK and in 9 years we only went there twice..unbelieveable!..haha
Hope everyone has/had a great weekend!!

Sharon,
The granite is called Golden Fantasy. It is kind of new I think- at least new out at Gray's Creek where we got it . It has a goldenish tone but also some gray, black and brown tones. Kind of hard to describe and sounds ugly! When i get this done next week i'll post some photos.
Sharon, maybe we can all get together one of these days.
Diana,
sounds like you have a nice camera. I don't know too much about the different models except the ones I own. As far as steady hands, i have a few tricks up my sleeve. One thing i do a lot is set the shutter speed pretty high and adjust the ISO accordingly. The faster shutter speed helps me get sharper photos. My hands aren't as steady as they use to be - I've noticed that more lately.
Just got back from taking my daughter to a "princess" themed party. Talk about a cute bunch of girls and a great photo op!! :-)

Oh wow Tracey I love the pictures of the baby squirrell and the racoon!! Oh how sweet - and I think donkeys are soooo cute!! I am the girl who rescues mice from my cats...what can I say? I think it's cause I had gerbils as a kid, lol. I take them outside, and hubby just shakes his head and says they'll be back..lmao!!!!

Ok, I finally went and uploaded a few pics to keep myself occupied with til I can get some new, lol.
On the subject of wild critters, last fall, I had a Chipmunk (we named him Theodore, lol) that felt he lived in the house too. It took us some time to figure out where he was coming in from, but eventually we figured it out and fixed the problem. But, in the meantime, he was one bold and brave little chipmunk! He'd run/hop/walk through the living room and over to her water and food bowl!!! And my cat could have cared less, I think she thought I got her her own little pet. :) When these pictures were taken, I was at my desk at home on the puter (big surprise, lol), and my kitty Missy was in my lap at the time....
Here's Theodore drinking out of her waterbowl!!!!!! (Don't mind the mess in the shots, we were doing some remodeling and stuff was everywhere, lol)

The raccoon in the picture above is quite spoiled. When we give her pecans, she hands them back to us so that we will shell them. She doesn't understand the real life of a raccoon or any animal actually! Of course...we comply!!!! I bought her shelled pecans the other day for her next visit to the office! She is quite a hit around the office. She weighs about 20 pounds, so she doesn't miss many meals! We had a little chipmunk at our house, and my cat didn't mind it at all, but my dog wouldn't even consider sharing his food!

Yeah D, I have a feeling he was definitely bragging about his great winter place, lol. He summer's outside and winter's inside, lmao!!!!! I am sure Alvin and Simon were super jealous! LMAO!! He was so brazen, it cracked me up! I had him chased out the front door one day, only to see him later on prancing through the living room to the food and water, lol. Oh yeah, Missy just sat on my lap the whole time - watching the little critter. I do think she thought we got her her very own pet, lmao!!! Oh well, at least she doesn't discriminate against chipmunks...
OMG, Tracey, no way!? I got to giggling so hard at that, that she hands them back to you!! LOL Wow that's great, soooooooo cute. I think they are adorable anyway. My girlfriend and I used to play with one that came around her house every night. We'd go outside and play peek-a-boo with her/him while she'd be hanging on a tree. We'd peek around one way, and she/he would peek around the other way, it was so dang cute!!!!!

Hi everyone.. Well I am still alive and kicking but have been very busy lately...doing what you say? Stuff! hahaha.. I seem to have been running from pillar to post for months now what with Hilary's 18th birthday, her graduation, final exams, college applications, folios etc etc etc....I'd like to think that she could have coped without me ....but! hahaha it has been panic stations with deadlines, developing problems, lost work, etc. Its just as well that she is handling her finals without too much stress. Well... that is if you don't count throwing up before the French orals hahaha!
Hilz on her 18th birthday. She specifically asked for a repeat of he 6th birthday cake.

Here she is the same night...pardon the ironing basket in the background haha.. Want to come over and do some? Actually with this shot I have a photography question. Hilz has large pupils, so there is always the red eye problem. Now, I can fix that with the Canon program, but check out Kirbys eyes!.. The red eye reduction doesn't work with him. Any ideas?

My goodness, it has been so long since I have posted that I had to start back at around page 14 just to catch uo on what has been going on!
Hahahaha.... I had to make notes as I was going through the posts.
Firstly, hello to Tracey83, it's really nice to meet you. Those aerial photos are very interesting. Where are they and what is the pyramid structure?
And, I have been very interested in the animals. I have never seen a real raccoon or squirrel!
Janie, that "eye' photo is spectacular. Shouldn't that be entered into some photographic exhibition or something? Our new digital is a Canon A520 and I'm loving it!... That is when I can get my hands on it!
As for those doughnut photos Diana, well! We have recently had our very first Krispy Kreme open up in Melbourne followed very quickly by a second and, I have little doubt, they will be springing up everywhere! And I have a very similar photo on file.
Weekend before last, Hilary had her Performance Music exam and to celebrate its conclusion we went out to lunch at the Docklands New Quay area in Melbourne.
This one is a shot of the Farley Mowat moored at the Quay.

Hi Rosalie. I am enjoying your pictures as well. My husband took those pictures when my step-dad was flying us back over Memphis. The Pyramid structure was a big deal a few years ago. Now the big arena for all the concerts, basketball games, etc. is at the Fedex Forum, the big round building. From what I understand, the big pyrimad thing will someday be a Bass Pro Shop with an aquariium. Congrats to your daughter!! My son finishes his college classes in a little over a month. We are so excited!
The raccoon should be making a visit to my office something this week. I will be sure to get a couple of pictures of Jersey. It is so fun having in the office. The squirrel that I was holding has now been released back into the wild. My friend has one last fawn that should be ready to be released soon.
I am looking forward to seeing more pictures of Australia. I have always wanted to visit there!!!

Oh Jane...the countertops are beautiful. Like you said...much better in person than described. You picked out just the right color for your kitchen.
Ro...So good to see you again. I was beginning to wonder if Oz had disappeared or something. Hilary is a beautiful young woman. I know you are very proud of her.
Tracey's pics of downtown Memphis are really great. Now you know what it looks like from the air. The river is the mighty Mississippi River. It begins in northern Minnesota and runs South into the Gulf of Mexico. It divides the US into East and West. Have you ever heard the song "Old Man River" from the musical "Porgy and Bess"? This is the river that the song is about. The Pyramid was built in the 1990's. It was the sports arena here until we got our pro basketball team. When the Grizzles moved here, the FedEX Forum was built for them. (Memphis is the home of Federal Express.) Now the Pyramid stands empty and unused and our city/county is still paying for it. Hopefully, someone will come to fill it up and take over the payments.
Your city pics are beautiful. I so want to visit your country.

Thanks Sharon, I liked your description better. I was telling my husband about this thread. He said to also mention that the Pyramid is used for highschool graduations. That's worth all those payments, huh???? It seems like yesterday my husband and I were down there when they broke ground for the Pyramid. Time flies!!!

Yikes, seems I too have gotten behind!
Janie, I am so jealous! I love the countertops, wow. Hubby and I keep talking about renovating the whole kitchen - new everything, and seeing your great counters makes me even more itchy to do it!!
And Ro!! So nice to see you!!!! Wow, I gotta say you have been a busy little bee! And Hilz is simply gorgeous! Nice work Mom!!!! As for the "Pet Eye" I have a program that does it, but more often than not I use my PhotoShop and correct with the airbrush tool, usually set at a low opacity so it looks fairly normal etc. That's the easiest way for me...
Here's a few "this and that" pics that I finally uploaded, lol. Nothing earth-shattering, lol. I love clickable thumbnails!! LOL
Finally I have filled the picture frames on top of my desk at home - for months they were blank, lol:

In honor of Halloween today, here's a pic of us on our first "date" (well, I guess it was after the bar that it became a 'date', lmao!!) I had a serious crush on him and come to find out he had one on me too ;) - we were at a Halloween party, lol, hence the get up I am in (I was Mina from Bram Stoker's Dracula):

The Harbor where the boat is slipped all summer in "charter boat row" lol (but you can't see it in this picture, bummer!)

And here's the shot from the front of the boat, to the back of the boat on our run out to fish on Lake Huron, of course my BIL is afraid the camera will capture his soul or something, ugh.

Trace (gotta figure out how to tell you from Tracie83 so I guess you will be Trace and she will be Tracey. Does that work for both of you?)...Now you've gone and done it. :tsk: When I show Hubby the pics of your boat, he is going to be so green with envy. Shoot...He may just jump in his car and drive up there so he can go fishing with your hubby and BIL. :lmao:
Tracey...I just couldn't help myself since this was going to Ro in Oz and I am not sure how much Ozettes know about our country. Probably way more than I know about theirs. :D
Jane...Are the back splashes going to be in the same granite or in tile to match your floor?

Sharon, how do you know we aren't the same Tracey???
The info was great info about our town, I forgot all that stuff back in junior high...
I have been so excited about Halloween all day. My old man dog that we had to put to sleep in August loved Halloween and seeing all the kids. Poor Mollie is being scared to death. She is using her deep bark with the tail wagging a mile a minute. It took me forever to get her halloween scarf on. She was just a puppy last year. It makes me miss the old man so much. He always dressed as a tootsie roll!
Nite and hope everyone sleeps well!
