Okay, I thought I'd repost this here...since it MIGHT flare us...and not for obvious reasons.

BENEFIBER - has changed its formulation to Wheat Dextrin. This is a new type of soluble fiber made by ROQUETTE.COM / called NUTRIOSE and marketed by NOVARTIS and put in to foods/ more are coming / and fiber supplements (like Benefiber meantioned previously). I'm in the process of finding out if it can cause a flare - or not. SURE - its just soluble fiber from wheat, a dextrin - with a low glycemic index and great gut tolerance (terrific). BUT dextrins can be processed with either acid or alkali chemicals...

I took some yesterday and might have flared ... but I also go an allergy shot yesterday too - so tough call on that one. I wrote the company and asked HOW this new fiber is PROCESSED.

I hope to get a response immediately / the company is in FRANCE however - still, I expect a response. I'm kind of too afraid to try it again - and get another flare...but I might if no answer from the company.

When considering what might cause a flare ALWAYS consider HOW the product / ingredients are MANUFACTURED...they might be treated with chemicals in the process of manufaturing that could flare you / though not listed on the label. How do you know>? Call the company - write them like I did.

Also, beware...the new product from Roquette.com (NUTRIOSE) comes in two forms. A WHEAT DEXTRIN AND A MAIZE DEXTRIN. Always find out which one you are consuming IF CORN flares you (it does me)!!! This is why anything with cornstarch kills me.

Okay - important information. If I try it again and don't flare, I'll post it. If I get information on from the company on whether it is processed with ACID or not - I'll post that too.

New products...not always as simple as it appears.

Has anyone had Vulvodynia flares from Benefiber? I started using this recently to help with stomach issues but have been having flares. I am wondering if this may be related
