Doing well. But still, if I eat catsup, my back hurts for a couple days. But it does not send me to bed anymore. It just keeps improving.
I have no burning, no frequency.
Cytotec has turned my life around and I am able to forget that I have IC for the most part. It has even helped my acid reflux.
I am sooo very thankful for this medication and that even my primary care physician prescribes it for me now.
I want to shout to the world and we really do need to talk about all this to others so that people will know that there is help and that they are not alone.

I'm just curious to know how many out there are on cytotec and if it helped. If so...how.....to what degree? After how long? also, side effects. Did you uro prescribe it? I am very sensitive to sooo many meds and am afraid to try anything new. I was recently given Lyrica for burning pain but haven't yet tried it. I just haven't find the right time to do so. I like to plan trying a new drug around a time period that I can afford to be down a few days if I react with it. So, even if I did get a script for Cytotec, I would wait til the time is right. I am trying to gather as much information as I can. Nothing so far has helped with my IC pain...other that diet. I have become sensitive to the instill med so I can't do that now either.
I also saw some posts about cyclosporin-A. Would love some feedback about that too. What type of drug is it?
Thanks,
ICLori

Mela, all your questions can be answered by reading back through the previous threads on Cytotek. Do a search by clicking on the search button and typing the name of the drug you are interested in. I know it takes time and effort to read the posts, but it would also take time and effort for us to go back through, read them for you and condense them for you. If you still have questions after reading all the posts regarding this med, we will try to answer them.
Blessings,
Lori

Lori,
I posted tat before I read ahead and found all the other info. I already read through them and found some helpful and interesting information.
I hope you are having a good IC day today.
Thanks,
Mel

Oh, okay, Mel...I'm having a flare this morning actually (grrr...I hate IC!) and everytime I flare, I wonder if this med is going to work for me or not. It sure seems to be taking its slow time in being effective....maybe I'm not on a high enough dose...
I sure hope you can find something that works for your IC, you sound like you've got it bad like I do. :( Plus you've been through a ton of other medical problems, too, no fun. So many of us have other things we suffer with besides IC.
I really have to wonder why IC is so common all of a sudden. Same with allergies...those are more common than they used to be too...makes you wonder what's going on.
Well, I hope you will find some meds that will have you feeling like normal again in no time. I've been really frustrated in my search for IC meds to help me....I hope you have better luck than I have had...
Blessings,
Lori

Oh, I just watched something about that, a special about Chernobyl and the area around it - incredibly high rates of thyroid cancer because of radiation...

Hey Mel, after 4 1/2 months on Cytotec, I had to stop, I was getting worse. Two days after stopping, I felt I was getting back to "normal". I have noticed one or two that felt better but I dont know how many total have tried it and feel better/worse or no difference. Would like to know myself. :) Hope you are having a nice weekend.
ALWAYS good to hear that people are finding treatments that are helping. Awesome. :) :) :) :)

Still going better. I had catsup a couple weeks ago without difficulty. I had two subs this week with pickles and banana peppers on them. No problem. I still drink almost all water and occasional coffee. Rarely pop. Carbonation hurts my stomach.
Next I will try homemade chili.
Cytotec gave my life back.

Butternut, it does sound like you are getting better. I couldn't even dream of having even the tiniest bit of any of thoe things.
Windtalker, I still haven't found a med that I can tolerate besides Benadryl, claritin and recently Zantac. I went to a gastro dr on Monday and he gave me Prilosec for the stomach pain I have been having. I got sooooooo sick from it. I had to spend the day in bed. 2 weeks ago I had an allergic type reaction to yet another medication ( again sick in bed for 3 days!). The reactions are horrible.........I don't think I would be a candidate for Cytotec. Soemthing is going on with me that I can't tolerate any medications. I seem to suffer all the side efffects that could possibly be listed on the drug info sheets (which I never look at til AFTER I get sick....so I know it's not psychosomatic!) Gotta get to my allergist and discuss this wtih him again. He mentioned a mast cell problem.........hhhhhhhhmmmm....sound famiiar??
Hope everyone has a decent IC day!
