Katherine,
I really do hope you get approved. I had my hearing in April and was approved. The judge told me then, but it took a few weeks to get it in writing and then another almost 4 months to get the first check. And, I still haven't gotten all of my back $$. But it is a relief! I'm crossing my fingers that you'll be approved. Hang in there... :kissing:

Congratulations to you on going to the Admin Law Judge's hearing. You sound like your lawyer did you some good by asking all the questions, you mean the lawyer asked you the questions or the judge?! And the lawyer only asked you two questions!? That sounds very good. As long as they didn't have the career expert come in with some jobs that you could do, you may possibly get it.

You have to go to court to get help with your disability???
Here in the UK I fill in a ton of forms, and have to see a doctor who the Dss have working for them.
Then he checks with the surgeons and doctors who are treating me to make sure I am telling the truth about my situation.
After this has all been confirmed they decide if I can have the money.
If so I can get one out of 3 different rates they set and may even get a disabled parking permit free and in some cases a free car tax disc.
And we pay a charge for driving through London(congestion charge) which I will also get free because of further trips to the hospital where I had my op done, for check ups.
Things are done in a different way over there in the states.

I hope everything works out for you

all the best

It isn't hard to get a disabled parking ticket. As far as I know that is mostly for the elderly or the handicapped like those in wheelchairs and from what I have heard, one just goes to a local drivers station and obtains some form to have the doctor's fill out. Then one gives it to the driver's station office I believe to receive some special permits. Now I don't know the requirements as far as the disabilities to meet there and it would have to be up to the doctors to decide.

As far as going to court to get the disability, realize that not everyone has to go to court. If someone was lucky enough to get the disability approved before getting to the ALJ judge step, then they wouldn't have to go to court. But they most the time I have heard and read deny the people the first and/or second time and most the time the people just simply keep appealing and appealing and then go to court. And then if the ALJ still denies the person, then they have to go to the next higher step and mail more papers in to VIRGINIA (and I had to do this and I lost again). It would be best if someone would get a lawyer perhaps, although that does cost a lot and even then no guarantee that a person would be approved right away. It is hard to meet the criteria of being disabled by the SSDI rules. Social Security does have their own website and they have a long site to review.

The above poster, your bladder isn't working and you aren't peeing? That is not good, you need to get that out. I don't know, but there may be some toxins or something that won't get out without eliminating them that way. They have to get your bladder working. Is it your kidneys? What pain you must be having if you can't get that pressure out. I have the opposite problem but anyways just letting you know someone read the post and cares. I guess I'd rather have the incontinence than the inability to go at all, I never heard of anyone with that. Gee I feel for you.
