Side effects w/Methadone?

Hello Everyone:hi:
It is I yet again, SORRY for all of the crazy questions!!:bonk:

As I stated yesterday my Dr. prescribed methadone 5mg. 3x daily, I just started today. Actually, like 4 hrs. ago.

So, here is the question:
I have read all the info. but are there any side effects that anyone of you all have had?
I am still kinda scared about this med. And just want to know what to expect, ya-know?

If anyone has the time or any info. please let me know.

Oh Ya!!!!! Last-night after taking the Zanaflex, I SLEPT!! For the first time in 4 months!!!!!:woohoo:

Hi Crystal, i too just started on pain management with methadone, he started me out at 5mg. 2 x a day but have percocet for break through pain, which I am still having. The doctor does plan to increase my methadone though.

I am only on my second week,. the first few days I kinda felt like I was swimming through water and definately didn't try to drive. I feel a lot better now though and it doesn't make be feel weird!

I have been struggling with constipation even though I planned for that and have added lots of fiber etc..., that is the only very frustrating side effect I've found so far!

I am on methadone, and noticed some sleepiness in the beginning but it passed. That's it in terms of side effects...I am doing great on it now :)

I'm trying to get the dosage times right.
They made a VERY big deal about only taking it every 8 hrs.
Other than that everything is great,especially with me doing my own instills.

The only side effects I have found with the Methadone is some drowsiness and mild constipation. Very tolerable though.
