going with the zoloft

Went with the Zoloft and starting it today. Only 25 mgs which I know has to start out small but I’m tempted to go to 50 mgs. I’m hoping it will at least start to calm my nerves down. How long do you think I should give it and at how many mgs?

I would say start with 25 mg for at least a few weeks and see if there is any improvement in your symptoms. You don't want to start too high too soon because the side effects can be really hard to deal with. If you feel like you aren't getting enough relief at 25 mg after a few weeks, ask your doctor if it's OK to bump up to 50 mg.

Also, make sure you are not taking any tricyclic antidepressants like Elavil in addition to Zoloft. Mixing the two can cause toxicity. I found that out the hard way because my GP wasn't familiar enough with the drug interactions between the two.

Thanks for answering me. I will do like you said. I'm not on any other anti pills. Can notice I don't feel like eating anymore since I took it so maybe all the snacking will finally stop. Thanks again. :smile tee
