Ok...I need everyone's help to figure out what's going on. Prior to my pregnancy and until just this past week my bladder has been great. No meds needed. Happy camper.

However, I'm just about 10 weeks pregnant and all of a sudden this past weekend my bladder started acting up. It's difficult to get my bladder muscules to empty my pee and I feel like I have to go ALL THE TIME even when I just empty. I actually feel a bit better when my bladder is full. It calms down when I sit or lay on my side. Honestly, I feel like I have someone sitting on my bladder. Yes, I know I actually do have something sitting on my bladder, but it's really uncomfortable! I don't remember this at all from my last pre-ic pregnancy.

Is this just a pregnancy thing? Or is my IC starting to act up? I was tested for UTI last weekend and it was negative along with the culture. Aside from Tums and lots of water, what can I do to be more comfortable? Does this ever let up? Help!!!

This commonly happens with pregnancy, but as you know it can also happen with IC. If you cannot pee AT ALL then you need to see your OB right away, infections can be horrible on a pregnancy. Hope it gets better. Stay posted.

I went through this also and it was the weight of the uterus pushing on my bladder and I also suggest calling your OB just to make sure they know this is starting and you are uncomfortable and see what they can do for you.. I was aloud to take Visteril for flares while pregnant and it did help some.

dancemomof2,
Did you find that it let up at all? Or did you have this feeling through your entire pregnancy?

Robin,

Unfortunatley for me it just got worse, but alot of people do better after the first tri-mester so keep your chin up and we will all keep our fingers crossed that you are on eof the lucky ones that goes into remission. My IC was not under control at all though when I became pregnant and it spiraled from there. Yell at me if you have any ???? or need to talk.

Its probably just pregnancy symptoms. I am 21 weeks pregnant and I feel like that sometimes too. Although I havent gone into remission while being pregnant, I can say that my symptoms havent gotten any worse. Hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones that go into remission. It is hard sometimes though to figure out if its pregnant or IC symptoms sometimes.

As far as I know D Mannose is safe to take while pregnant, I have used it a few times already.

Ok...thanks everyone!

My bladder was been getting progressively irritated and uncomfortable and my anxiety has been rising steadily right along with it! In the old days I would just reach for a trusty xanax and life would be better, but not now.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's an IC flare due to the weight of the baby on my uterus. It gets pretty irritated, but when I lie (lay?) down on my side it really eases up and gives me a break. My OB just ok'd pyridium, although only when really needed. It's now rated as a class B drug which is pretty safe for pregnancy. I've not taken it yet, but I have to admit it eases my mind a lot knowing that it's there. I think I was most terrified of not having anything.

Please oh please let this pass quickly!
