Hi There -
I've been having problems over the past couple months. Thinking it was my IC I went to my urologist. After a urine culture I found out I had a UTI. I was put on Cipro. Still did not feel well and went back. This time I was put on Macrobid for 10 days. Went back again after I saw blood in my urine for 2 days and still felt horrible. Doctor told me to stay on Macrobid even though my culture came back negative for UTI this time. Doctor insisted it was my IC acting up that was causing these symptoms. I demanded to go for a kidney test so he sent me for an Abdominal Cat Scan. Just got the results today and the nurse said that I have two small Kidney Stones. I'm leaving for vacation next week and the doctor is also out. My next appt. is on Aug. 23 with him. Questions.....Do you think the blood and all my symptoms were from the two small stones? Do you know what organs an Abdominal Cat Scan Shows? They told me kidneys/bladder/pelvic area. If it shows the bladder, do I still need to go for a cystoscopy? Thanks for all your help. The good thing is that the Macrobid and Ditropan and Elavil has calmed my bladder plus I've been drinking lots and lots of water. I hope my symptoms remain quiet until I get back. I had one stone about 16 years ago that I passed. Had horrible pain worse than labor. Oddly the stone came back diagnosed as iron.
Doctor was baffled. I thought it was from those big prenatal vitamins I was taking because I later found out they wrote the wrong instructions on my pills. They told me to take them 3 times a day. Anyways, I know most stones will pass, but if mine don't, how do they treat them? I hope I don't need surgery. Any info. would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks again.:cat:
