I went to the uro because I thought I had an infection on top of my IC. The culture came back contaminated and he would not take another one. I went to my gynecologist and begged her to run and a sterile urine culture this time. Guess what. It came back with 2 organisms that were so resistant to all known oral medications that I have to now have to have the VNA come out for Rocephin shots, and if that does not work, be at home on IV. I am in so much pain that I don't know whether it is from the infection, IC or both. Has anyone else had this problem? I am supposed to see a pain managment doctor but my first appointment August 22, and I do have pain medication to last me through, but the thought of this going on so long and the callousness of the uro now means I have to find someone else. I mean if they can't even run the urine test right, why would I want him to treat me. Has anyone else had this problem before? I am so frustrated.

i have not had the infection you have but i have been on home IV therapy. It does suck but if at all possible i suggest trying to arange it so your running your IV therapy at night while you sleep so you will be free to move around during the day and not be tripping over tubes!

I am in the process of finding a new uro myself so i know how THAT can be...i suggest telling them right up front when you call for apts that you have IC, you'd be amazed how many uro's actually turn us away!
