Hey all... for those that wear them, what are your favorite perfumes? :)
Thought it might be fun to hear what everyone likes/wears... it's kinda interesting to hear because scents can say so much about personality and stuff. Let's share our faves with each other -- and heck, we may find a new one we like this way!! :D
As for me, I have a few I like... although I tend to rotate around a lot. Right now, because it's summer, I'm either wearing Breathless from Victoria's Secret (a very beachy, summery fragrance, and isn't too heavy to wear in the heat... plus, it reminds me of my wedding since I wore it in Jamaica during our stay there). I also am wearing one I mixed myself at Garden Botanika (http://www.gardenbotanika.com) -- it's got baby powder, sandalwood, and light musk in it, and just kind of smells like clean skin.
However, I actually can't wait until fall, because aside frome my "Just Me" perfume (the powder/musk/sandalwood mix) -- I REALLY like deep, musky, spicy, warm perfumes with a lot of mystery to them. I think these smell best on me too, since whenever I wear one, people stop me and ask, "WHAT are you WEARING? It smells soooooo good!!!"
These days I'm liking Lancome's Hypnose, and Avon's Tomorrow. I also love Chanel's No.5 and No.22. I also have two other mixes I made myself -- one's got dark musk, spices, and a little tiny bit of powder to soften it and make it more feminine, and the other is a mix of amber, sandalwood, and a touch of vanilla. They smell great when worn TOGETHER too!
So tell me.... what do you gals (and guys) wear??

I wear White Musk Perfume Oil. This is from the Body Shop. I've worn it since I was 16 and as long as it continues to come out I will still wear it. I also wear Night Blooming Jasmine Body Spray from Bath and Body Works. I wear the spray and the oil together. I have many other body sprays but that one is my favorite. I am not sure if they make it anymore because I don't go out often so I don't have to use it often. I have not checked the store it. If it's still there I will continue to wear it.
On that thought I was thinking of favorite candle smell. I have to say that mine is Macintosh Apple that I put into a tart burner with a tea light under it. It lasts all day long and can be re-used. I change my candle scents with the changes of the seasons but my favorite is the Macintosh Apple Tart.
I love smells. They make me feel so good!!!! :) Thanks for this post Jen. It takes my mind off of a lot of other negative things that are going on in my life.

Red Door perfume-love the body wash, lotion, and cologne. Always gets me compliments.
I also like the citrus splash vitabath-bath gel and body lotion.

I don't wear perfumes very often because we have a family member who is extremely sensitive to scents, but when I do, it's Passion. Sometimes I use a fresia scent --- and I also like plumeria.

Oooh... you all are mentioning candles!!! I am addicted to Yankee Candle stuff too. I like the McIntosh candles too. :) But I really love the Christmas scents they have -- Christmas Eve is my fave, but I love Christmas Wreath, Christmas Berries, Home for the Holidays, etc. I also like the Balsam and Cedar scent because it goes really well with the decor of our house -- our house is in the woods with a lot of windows that open onto the trees, so it just seems like it should smell like a mountain lodge... and Kara, the tart burners are GREAT!!!!! ;)

What a fun thread! My favorite is Boss, by Hugo Boss. But, I have an extensive fragrence wardrobe. Some women have a thing for clothes, some for shoes, others like to buy jewelry or things for their home. Me? I love fragrence!! Right now, I wear: Liz Claiborne original scent, Happy to Be by Clinique (I get the most compliments from women on the Liz and from men on the Happy to Be, (so naturally I wear the Happy to Be the most!! I also wear the original Happy by Clinique, Eternity by Calvin Klein, and Red Door and Fifth Avenue by Elizabeth Arden. Then there's Pleasures by Estee Lauder and Goddess by Kimmoa Lee Stevens, and Soul, Curve, and Realites by Liz Claiborne.
I like the lighter ones in the spring. The very lightest in the summer. Then, I wear the stronger ones (like the Red Door), in the fall and winter.
My Mom loves fragrence as I do. Her favorite Christmas gift of all time was one of the ones I gave her last year. I went to all the fragrence counters in every dept store at hour malls and asked for samples. Then, I made a her a card on poster board stock. It is sorta corny, but, I incorporated the names of the fragrences into a poem a wrote for her. I had 32 fragrances in there. Some were the samples sizes, and then I bought a fragrence sampler that I had 5 of her favorite Liz Claiborne fragrences in there. I also bought her a full size set of Pleasures byt Estee Lauder and it came with a cute, free purse. It was a HUGE hit. She loved the little free samples almost more the the gifts I bought her. Most of them had enough in them to wear them about 5 times, so she is still using the free samples!
I must admit, I felt like a begger at first, and there were a few employeees that just said that they had no samples. But, I lucked up on aabaout 4 who thought it was a great idea and were happy to help me. (I bought from the nicest who gave me the most samples, and brought back homemade Christmas cookies for the others who gave me samples. (I always try to reward kindness everywhere, since Lord knows there isnt enough of it in the world!)
Thanks for starting a great thread!! You are so right, that the kind of fragrence one wears says alot about them, kind of like the cars they drive. Hugs, Amy

Oh, I almost forgot! This is hilarious, but sweet. When I went to Florida on vacation without my husband and son, I came back and my half full bath gel (The Pleasures by Estee Lauder one) was USED UP!! I started fussing at Collin b/c I thought he had squirted it all out in the tub. Steve came in and heard me getting after Collin. He kind of hemmed and hawwed and then he fessed up. He had used it himself because he missed smelling me! He had planned to replace it before I got back, and then squirt out half so I wouldnt know what happened. But, he thought it was something he could get at the grocery. Then, when he didnt see it at the grocery, he thought it just must be discontinued. (It never occured to him that it came from a Dept store!!!)
He was SOOO embarrasssed, but it was honestly the sweetest and most romantic thing he has ever done. (He would DIE if he knew I told anyone this, but it was so sweet, that of course I have told EVERYONE!! But, I swore them all to secrecy. So, consider yourself sworn!! :smile tee ) Hugs, Amy

This is my last one, I promise! But, this so funny too, I cant resist telling you! As much as I love perfume, my husband flat out refuses to wear cologne (Apparently except when I am not around! LOL!) I have bought things for him many times, but he will not wear it. So, I have taken to spraying his shirts when they come out of the dryer. :smile tee Well, one day, he did the laundry. (It was one VERY, RARE day!) When I came home, he asked me, "What's that brand of fabric softner you use that always makes our clothes smell so good? I went to use it but we are out of it, so I thought I would pick some up when I go to the grocery tomorrow afternoon." I said that the fabric softner was by the detergent. He said, "No, not THAT brand, I mean the kind you use when you wash my clothes. It has a more masculine scent, and people even think I am wearing cologne. I actually argue with people when they compliment me on how good I smell and ask what kind of cologne I wear. No one ever believes that it is just plain old, fabric softner!" I just smiled.:smile tee I said, "That's because it is NOT just plain, old. fabric softner! You HAVE been wearing cologne for about 2 months! I have been spraying your shirts, since I couldnt get you to wear it any other way." Do you believe he was actually MAD???!!! He said, "I TOLD you I dont like wearing cologne! And here you have been MAKING me wear it!!!" I said, "Yep! But if you dont want to wear it anymore, you can just go back to wearing the fabric softner!" :lmao: Men!!!!

This is funny but I must tell you this! When I go to visit my parents, I sneak into my dad's armour and use his deoderant. It's Acqua di Gio by Giorgio Armani Men's Deoderant, not the cologone it's the deoderant. Yes I am the same one that wears White Musk by The Body Shop and Night Blooming Jasmine by Bath and Body Works. It's true, I use my Dad's deoderant when I go over there. I do this because I feel like I am close to him and it feels like he is with me all day long. I love his smell. Its a comforting, safe feeling.
Also while my mom is at work (she works nights) I take her bathrobe to bed with me so I can smell her.
Yes, I am still attached to my parents. I don't get to see them all that much so I soak up whatever I can get.

Years ago I used to wear Nina Ricci L Air Du Temps. My husband got that for me when we were going out back in the 70's. I also liked Heaven Scent when I was a teenager along with Jungle Gardenia. My sister bought me Jessica McClintock perfume and that smells really nice. Now I where Tresor by Lancome. My oldest son bought me that one.

Mel, I love Tresor too! It is one of my favs. But, I dont wear it anymore, b/c it is what I wore when I was engaged to someone before, so it has memories associated with him. But, I love the smell of it. It is amazing how smells are asscoicated with differant people and places. Certain food smells take me to places too. Like the smell of cornbread dressing with lots of sage and pumpkin pie in the oven, always remind me of my Grandma who passed away 12 yrs ago. It is a lovely smell that is very comforting. Again, great thread! Hugs, Amy

:) My husband wears cologne, usually Davidoff Cool Water, but he also wears a cologne by mark (the new division of Avon) -- mark.blu ... it smells sooooo great on him, but of course they don't make it anymore, so when he's out of it it's gonna be sad :(
I have a fragrance library as well, Amy ;) I used to wear Musk by Laura Ashley, which I still like, but it's HARD to find, so I've got an empty bottle of it hanging around to remind me to get it again if I ever see it.
When I was a teen I wore Heaven Sent sometimes too :lmao: I also went for the Love's Baby Soft ... :D

My Husband wears two fragrances. During the fall and winter months he wears Obession for men by Calvin Klein and During the Spring and Summer months he wears a lighter one called Obession Night by Calvin Klein.
We also love using linen spay on our bed. We are using now Chamomile Linen Spray. I've also used a Lavender Linen Spray from the Bath and Body Shop.

Wow! I did not know that Bath and Body Works made linen spray! I love the smell of Lavender. I sometimes buy their fragrant body cream. I am into wearing mango mandarin. It smells so good, but everything from Bath and Body works smells good.

My fiance has a hard time with heavy scents. Ive never been a perfume kinda gal, but I am addicted to H2O's line of lotions and soaps. I use the scent Raspberry Guava. (Which reminds me..H2O is having a big sale right now..need to stock up:) )
I also love Yankee Candles. Just got a coupon in the mail today so Im gonna use it tomorrow when I go shopping. When Jerry is home, I can only burn my candles for so long before he blows them out. :tsk:
Growing up, my mom was a candle freak! She had them on every surface of the house. One night, when I was in middle school, I came home to check in with my mom before heading out on my bike again. I had this guy friend with me. He asked if my mom was having a se-ance(sp?). I laughed and told him that my mom just loves candles. I would be more like that if I could. I love walking into a house that smells fresh and fruity! (like me:bonk: )

LOL ... that's funny about your mom and all the candles :) I'm almost as bad sometimes; I light quite a few if we entertain... I light them in the living room though, never in the dining room, so that the scents don't interfere with the food. ;) And I light a lot when it's just us too.
Hubby likes candles. Actually, the first time I went to his place when we were dating, he had Yankee Candles -- he had one Storm Watch scented jar and one Midsummer Night jar! I was impressed! (I like both scents, and burning both together is nice too -- reminds me of when we were first dating... hehehe :) )
I just ordered a couple new perfumes from Sephora.com (in an attempt to treat myself well, as things are going very badly at work at the moment and I feel some major flare issues coming on) -- they sound cool, and when they arrive I'll let you guys know how they are :)

My absolute favorite is "Heart" by Garden Botanica. I cannot be without it! As far as candles go... I always have "Yankee Candles" on hand. My favorite in the summer is Honeydew Melon.

My favorite scents are Jil Sander #4 (hubby bought my first bottle on his trip to Vegas) and Poeme by Lancome.
I will share my little secret to wearing expensive designer perfumes.....buy them online at perfume clearinghouses! They don't sell Jil Sander in Knoxville so I have to buy it online. You can google your fragrance or also check out ebay and save a bundle!

My favorites are Avon Rare Pearls and some of the old standbys, Candid, Soft Musk- (I sell Avon, so I wear it) My husband doesn't wear aftershave, but my sons do, one of them like Perceive and the other likes Wild Country - which has been around a long time.

Okay, I've tried a new perfumer and I love it -- for those of you that like the warm scent of vanilla, La Maison de la Vanille eau de toilettes are great! (Sold at Sephora stores and website.)
I have tried their Vanille Sauvage de Madagascar, Vanille Noire du Mexique, and Vanille Givree des Antilles and they are all great... each has a warm, true vanilla base, but the top and middle notes are different for each.
Sauvage de Madagascar is spicy and unusual with bergamot, vetiver, sandalwood, incense, and even coriander in it.
Noire du Mexique has rose, iris, jasmine, and a hint of patchouli in it.
And Givree des Antilles has lavender, tuberose, patchouli.
They all fade to an almost purely vanilla base note eventually, and the vanilla is also the biggest component even when first sprayed, but their differences are definitely noticeable.
These are so nice that not only women compliment me; men do too... including foreign guys who are really more into scent than American guys are ;) An Indian guy in my lab loves it when I wear Sauvage de Madagascar; he says it smells like American vanilla ice cream with very light hints of the Indian open markets where spices and incense are scenting morning air.

I too love patchouli -- although I got in trouble for wearing it as a teen -- my dad thought it was pot!
I wear my own special perfume and I 'never tell' because I think I am the only one that wears it -- hee hee! How silly -- but seldom does anyone ask me what it is without saying "I love that!" and I just smile and say -- oh thanks -- it's my own special perfume!
