They are having a Country Music Festival where I live called the Oregon Jamboree. They have it every August. This year performers are Randy Travis, John Michael Montgomery, Charlie Pride, Gretchen Wilson and Carrie Underwood of American Idol Fame to name a few. In recent years we have had Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, Wynonna Judd,Meryl Haggard, Kenny Chesney and Reba McIntire.

I have worked as a Volunteer before, but it is hard work. The money earned after everything is paid for goes back into the town. It was started after all the logging businesses went under because of the Spotted Owl.

It is the biggest music festival in Oregon. It is a 3 day festival and people come here from all around to camp out and see the performers. I can hear the music from where I live.

It is all run by volunteers except for the cops and the paid security.

I wish I could go! It seems like Oregon has many more summer events than other areas. This weekend there is a civil war enactment going on in Springfield --- yesterday husband Terry and I took our spinning wheels there and spent the day spinning. And the Lane County Fair will begin soon and we'll be spinning there too. And between now and the fair there's the Scandinavian Festival in Junction City. We try to take in as much as we can.

This afternoon we're having an ice cream social at our local fire station; I'll spend two hours making cotton candy.
