Okay, so my car went to the mechanic's on Monday for its annual inspection, and it passed just fine.

We also had them look at the passenger window, which sometimes got stuck halfway down -- they fixed that; it was some kind of corroded switch in the control for the window.

Well, yesterday, A DAY AFTER IT WAS AT THE MECHANIC, I opened my DRIVERS SIDE window as I got to the driveway so I could grab the mail from the box. When I went to put it up, I heard this horrible crunching noise, and then the window wouldn't go up any further!! :cussing:

Worse, it won't even stay that way; in fact, it has slid all the way down and there is no way to get it back up. I drove it to work but I'm terrified someone will steal it from the parking garage since it is SUCH an easy target that way. Luckily my boss was on his way in this morning and saw me in the lot cussing at the window, so he gave me the afternoon off to go get it fixed!!!!

Now, hopefully it will BE there when I get to it....

ARRRRRRRRRGH....:cussing:

Jen that totally sux. I am really sorry! That happened with my husband's car a year or so ago and we had to take the whole door apart to get the window back up. Turned out to be a bad control mechanism.

Sending mellow vibes your way....

I know how much that stinks and it seems like your car picks either the hottest time of year or deep in the middle of winter. I haven't had car problems per se with my car, but the initial tires that were on it shredded(all 4 at different intervals. The problem--I found out they were special order that took a week to come in. The other problemo the tires were Pirelli wide sport tires to the tune of 331 per tire!!!!:cussing: One of the times that one of the tires decided to blow was on Fort Irwin Road(a 40 mile 2 lane road with no lights, call boxes, that cuts through the desert. Can you imagine me in 90 degree heat trying to put the donut on. Scary.. Thank goodness I was on my way back from a dr's appt because the old bladder was teed off after I got the spare on.

Hugs,
Barb:smile tee

You guys are right... it always does pick either the absolute hottest time of the year (or the coldest) to have something break on a car. :(

Anyway, I drove it to the mechanic's and they said, exactly like armslee did, that they have to take the whole door apart. The window is off the track inside AND the control mechanism has gone bad. SO -- I left it at the mechanic's since they called around and the part(s) will be delivered tomorrow. They are going to call when it's done. Hopefully they don't find anything ELSE wrong with it when they are messing around in there....

OH, and it's going to be about $450 to fix it :cussing: ... but I have to have it done. Can't keep it with the window stuck down, because not only will it be hot, it will be hot pickings for car thieves!!!
