... today on my way home from work, I heard on the radio that there was a huge traffic jam on Interstate 40 just east of Winston-Salem (in Kernersville, for those who live here) because the asphalt on the road actually BUCKLED from the heat!

I guess people were trying to use the emergency lane on the side to get around this mess, but i was reaalllyyy glad that was not on my route home!!!!

:shake:

Oh yuck! That would have been awful to encounter, ugh. It was 100 degrees F here today, with a heat index of about 109-112, I swear I am just a puddle... I felt bad for the road construction workers on my route today laying new asphalt, especially the poor girls who stand there and turn the traffic signs when it's shut to one lane... Is it fall yet??? LOL

I can't believe it's actually HOTTER where you guys are!!! I'm in Southwest Florida, and it's seasonably HOT, like normal for here...but it's "only" 95 degrees w/a heat index of 102!!! Try to keep cool up there!!!

I've heard on the news that even some roads are turning to mush. Unbelievable. I left my bottle of snapple on the counter for 2 hours thinking it would be fine. Went to drink it and it was hot tea. Yucko, I can't stand hot tea but think how hot that is. Melting roads, making tea I wonder if a person could really fry an egg on the sidewalk? Anyone try?

LOL, that had to be gross surprise for you! I like hot tea, but when I want it to be hot, lmao!!! Oh I was thinking of the poor girls feet when they were having to stand there on the black asphalt, yuck! They must have been burning!!!

Tiger Gal doesn't it seem like when you really need something to work it falls apart? :toilet: Every fall I ahve the snow blower serviced. It works great and with the small amounts of snow I'm out there with it. Not working up a sweat and THEN with the first snow storm of 10 feet the stupid thing won't start. I pull and pull ,talking to myself and imagine the neighbors think I'm :loco: ) I give up and have to shovel it myself. It's hot here again too. By 1:00pm it was 105. We are suppose to have rain storm this afternoon and I'm crossing my fingers but it might make it hotter since we do have nice winds now. How many of us will be complaining in January of 30 below cold weather? :bonk:
