I can't believe this. I had no clue that this even existed. I have had these stupid bladdar problems since I was 11 years old. I am 21 years old now. I was sick of the pain, sick of people telling me it's because I am a newly wed and i need to pee after sex. I'm not retarded i know that! I hated not being able to be intimate because i hurt so bad. I was sick of the antibiotics not working. Deep down i knew something was wrong. I knew this could not be right. So finally, i demanded a specialist. I felt like i had a UTI but like so many times before i tested negative. Nothing is so frustruting knowing something is wrong but getting no help. Within five minutes of the specialists she suggested it might be IC. I was stunned. I had never even heard of it before. So i took the test tested positive and boom here i am. It's relieving knowing whats wrong. But then you find out how much the meds cost and the relief is gone! I am a college student that is more than i make a month! Plus my student health insurance does not cover prescriptions. Luckily i have some programs that help, but man! I just had no clue.

You are just on the start of your IC journey. I'm sorry you're so young and having to deal with this. Check out the patient handbook, there are lots of different meds to try, and the first thing I'd do is find a really good uro. Dr. Moldwin's book has been a lifesaver for me in helping me decipher what I can and can't, should and shouldn't do. Remember, you are in control of your treatment. Don't be bullied by your uro or docs. Be proactive and informed. Hope you feel better soon.

:welcome: to the IC Network.

The Patient Handbook is at http://www.ic-network.com/handbook In it you'll find the IC diet, which I suggest you begin immediately. Some ICers find that single step offers significant relief.

There are some drug assistance programs for which you may qualify. Your doctor's office should be able to help you apply.

Sending healing thoughts,
Donna
