My son got out of the hospital this afternoon. He has been in since Thursday. I was afraid to start the Lyrica until he got out, in case I had side effects. I can't take anymore. I constantly feel like I have to urinate. It even feels like it is moving down into where my uretrha used to be. Kara, what else did youi take with the Lyrica? I really don't know how much more I can take.

Hey Carly, I had one of those days yesterday. Absolutely miserable. I took my pain pill (vicoprofen** and used a ice pack. Fell to sleep thank God and felt better when I woke up.

Try to remember what I ate different or did. I remember, a storm came through and we was cleaning the debris in our yard. I was trying to help and I moved big branches and put them in the ditch. Big mistake........

I take this medication because of my legs but it does help with my bladder.
Hope you find some relief, Trishann

Carly, I am so sorry that you are dealing with this on top of everything else. I read through some of Kara's old posts and it looks like one of the things she takes in combination with the Lyrica is something called Keppra. I remember it really took me a good year to get over the feelings of needing to pee and even after that I would feel twinges once in awhile. Sometimes stress can aggravate it. Have you tried any of the drugs like Bentyl? It so an antispasmodic that works on the GI tract. That was one of the drugs they gave me to try when I had it. 20 years ago I dont think either Lyrica or Keppra was around. When it hits, go sit on the toilet, try to do relaxation breathing, or get in a warm bath- even like a sitz bath so that you dont have to worry about your pouch getting wet and just pretend like you are peeing. One of things I used to do was to sit on the toilet and pour warm water over the area so it felt like I was peeing. By doing that it sort of tricked my mind into believing that I was going and it helped to diminish the feelings. You may also want to explore hypnosis or biofeedback as 2 natural ways of helping you through all this. How is your son doing now that he is home?

Carly,

I take an anticonvulsant called Keppra prescribed to me by my Pain Management Specialist. Lyrica 150mg 3 times a day and Keppra 1000mg 2-3 times a day. Those two drugs seem to take the phantom urgency away almost all of the way. The medication is given to people who have seizures but it's common for them to also use it for people with Nueropathic Pain. I hope you find some relief soon!
