This is a really embarrassing thing to post but I don't know where else to turn. I have these strange symptoms that started when I was on amitryptiline and got better once I wasn't on it. Now I seem to have flares though.

The symptoms are kind of weird. I get a girgly, gassy and bloated feeling and sometimes don't pass much but a little mucus or noise or something small. This will happen every time I go in the bathroom somedays. I don't have constipation or diarhea...just these strange symptoms. It seems to happen more often when I eat sweets. Fow a while I thought maybe I was developing an allergy to wheat.

I don't know if this is IBS or something else. I've had almost all the GI tests. I had 3 surgeries last year and perhaps all the bowel preps destroyed the normal flora in my gut? I also had difficulty eating for a period of time (too much pain from adenomyosis to eat) and I found once my adeno was taken care of and I started eating again food in general just didn't agree with me. I had a lot of trouble digesting food after my hysterectomy. I've also had an appendectomy and myabe I have bowel adhesions? I don't know it's just so frustrating!

I don't want to go to anymore doctors and I hate to take meds. Anyone have any thoughts on this or suggestions? Does it sound like IBS? Thanks so much for reading this!

I'm not an expert, but your thought on the flora being destroyed makes sense to me. Have you tried taking a probiotic to replace the beneficial bacteria in your GI tract? It could be IBS also, but that usually comes with either constipation, diarhea or a combo of both. What does your doctor say?

I've been too chicken to try a probiotic...that and too overwhelmed by the choices. My PCP thinks I have IBS but my uro-gyn doesn't want to label me with anything else. Also, I don't have constipation or diarhea, just these strange annoying symptoms from time to time. I know I probably need to go back to a GI doctor but I know IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion and I'm trying to give my bosy time to heal from all the surgeries this past year.

I'm so glad I hopped on here today! I've been experiencing the symptoms you guys are talking about and I'm glad to hear that it will most likely be IBS and not Colitis!
Because of the symptoms I've been experiencing, muscus, bloody, diarehea, and sometimes just small pieces come out, I had a colonoscopy done, it came back inconclusive so they took blood tests to determine if I have Colitis or not. My appointment to get the results is next Tuesday but it sounds like I might just have IBS.......much better than Colitis.
I have these symptoms too and it is gross and annoying but I'm so glad I'm not alone!.

Thanks girls! By the way, if any of you live in the midwest there is a regional IC meeting on Saturday september 9th. I live in Indiana and I am definitely going. I want to meet other women who suffer like i do and get as much information as I can. it's called the "Central Ohio Regional IC Meeting" and it will be at the Bridgewater Banquet and Conference center in Columbus, Ohio September 9th at 9 a.m.

My daughter and I both have IBS, but our symptoms have disappeared since we have been grinding our own wheat and making our own bread. I buy the hard white berries and we make cookies and pancakes and muffins and....well you get the picture. Basically anything you can make with white store bought flour can be made with fresh ground wheat. Their are many companies that you can purchase a grinder from. I have found that God made things work much better than man-made medicines. I still have to take some medications, but I try to use whole foods as much as possible. As long as we eat some of the wheat everyday, we don't have bathroom problems!! We have tried drinks and meds and anything we have been advised to do and this is far the best thing we have done for this problem!! Good luck and God bless!!
