Ok, so I just got an IUD inserted last week and I keep having pains. So, I called doc office to get an appointment today. The only person who was available was the nurse practioner. She refused to put the IUD in me last month cause she said it wasn't a good idea for someone who has never had kids....(may cause infection which lmay ead to infertility). (So, I had to reschedule with another doctor to get it put in.) So, now I have to go back to this women complaining about the IUD. So now I'm terrified I have an infection and on top of it I have to go the NP who will probably have a big I told you so attitude towards me. :shake: God this sucks!

Oh cripes Kim! I totally know how you feel! But sometimes we have to at least give things a try, and that's what you did. I understand the NP's concerns, but I am sure not everyone gets an infection, and you had to give it a try at least. And if you do have one, sounds like you would have caught it quickly for it to not cause a problem!

Good luck and keep us posted on how your appt went!!!

HUGS!!!

WHOA!!!! I had IUD's for YEARS BEFORE I had kids....she is not telling you the truth....and you will have some cramping as your body adjusts to it....and I NEVER had any infections...sounds like she is trying to give you the brush off....give the IUD a chance...I loved mine....

Is it the Mirena? They do state that on there about not inserting it in women who have never had children BUT it is YOUR body and YOUR choice. If a doctor was willing to put it in, then she must have thought it was okay for you. So if this NP gives you a hard time, just kindly remind her that it's YOUR body and that you will deal with the consequences, if any.

Hugs,
Jess

Hey everyone,
Thanks for replying with your encouraging words. I went to the office and saw the NP she was really nice and not condesending (oh gees, I just can't spell anymore). She checked me out and said she doesn't think theres an infection. :woohoo: She thinks its my body just adjusting to the IUD and she actually recommended keeping it in. She said women that have never had a kid generally have more pain cause their uteruses are smaller and not used to anything being in there. She said that if you yank it out right away the insurance won't cover another one for like another 5 years. So basically she just told me to take a lot of ibprofen and see how it goes. Oh well at least the uterine cramps detract from the bladder pain:rolleyes: lol ( Hey if any of you guys are the praying type can you just pray that I don't get an infection or anything. )
