Hey guys,

Thanks for the replies to my previous post. So I now have a perscription for neurontin. I was just wondering if anyone had any good or bad experiences with it? And I was a bit afraid to ask my gyno this, but if vestibulitis IS what's causing my feeling of needing to pee all the time (and not IC) should neurontin get rid of that as well?

I guess I just don't want to be told I have both of them, which I'm starting to worry is the case.

I'm not sure if the neurontin will help that or not, hopefully it will. I know it's used for several conditions. My uro gave it to me for nerve pain in my bladder and for my vulvodynia. It has really helped! I went without it for a week and it was horrible. I take 3 300mg per day and I had to work up to that amount. They first started me with 3 100mg pills per day for 3 weeks then increased it to what I take now. It made me feel very wierd and sleepy at first. I made my self keep taking it knowing those effects would not last too long and I pushed thru and now the side effects aren't an issue. I hope it will help you.
I haven't seen your previous posts, have you beend dxd w/ IC? Im embarassed to ask b/c I feel like I should know, having vulvodynia and IC, but what is vestibulitis IS? What kind of symptoms do you have other than the urgency (filling like you have to pee all the time)?

I just wanted to let you know I took Neurontin for a very long time and it was a good medication. It may help for this condition. It's worth a try!

Good Luck to you!

Hi Rockin' Girl! Cute name :)

I took Neurontin from October 2004 to around December 2004, then I had to stop for insurance reasons. After that, I restarted it May 2005, and stayed on it until about July 2005. Personally, Neurontin had no effect on me. No side effects, no effect on my symptoms.

That's just me, though. Hopefully it will work better for you.

Good luck :grouphug:

P.S. I took it just for IC; I don't have vulvodynia. But I would think that it could be useful for vulvodynia, since vulvodynia involves overly sensetive nerves in the vagina, and Neurontin is supposed to help with nerve-related problems.

Casi,

My symptoms are feeling the need to pee all the time, a burning sensation 'down there' and sometime more jabbing pain in that area. I have not been dx-ed with IC, although I went to two different urologists, one who said he thought I had it, and the other who said that because it all came on so suddenly and I had no past history of any health problems that he didn't think I had it. It was my gyno who dx-ed me with vestibulitis after doing the test for it, but I haven't had any test for IC. It's all so confusing.

As for neurontin, I found it was really helping, until this week when I had to get an ultrasound (the kind where you have to drink a bunch of water) and then my problems have kinda come back but not to their origional severity. I'm just frustrated because I don't know what this means problem-wise :/

I have PNE, which some take neurontin for. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm having a lot of success with MSM, which is a mineral that you can buy at any store. However, my grandmother has peripheral neuropathy, where her feet burn really bad, and the nuerontin really didn't do much good. I sent her a bottle of MSM, and she is now "cured" as long as she remembers to take the mineral every day. I would give it a try if you are on neurontin or not. It's so good for your joints, too.
