Average Urination

What would be considered normal urination? How many times per day? Thanks!

My URO considers between 8-10 bathrooms trips per day, 1-2 per night as "normal". Of course, daily intake of fluids is going to change therefore changing how many times one urinates.

i was told 6-7 times a day is average.

Thanks you guys. I think it's easy to find out what's abnormal - but I needed a benchmark to find out what was actually considered normal. Thanks for the input!

I know it's nice to have this info... in fact it is one thing I was very curious about when I was first diagnosed, and when I found out that "normal" was 8 times or less per day, I about died... I couldn't remember EVER going so few times! :grouphug:

People I know that are normal go about 3 or 4 times during the day and don't get up even once at night. Drinking lots of fluids like water or beer could change that number. I used to be in that normal category over 35 years ago. Can't believe how long I've been abnormal. Just when I got to the age when I was old enough for sex and alcohol, IC screwed it all up.

I usually go 4-6 times per day and not at night. BUT I still have IC symptoms, particularly urethral and bladder burning and my pelvic floor is spasmed to the max right now. It's making my bladder feel "funny", even after I void. I notice I feel better in the AM, but worse as the day goes along. I'm on valium and soaking, but still suffering. We all talk about how many times we go abnormally, I sure appreciate the info from you on what's supposed to be normal.

I heard the same thing too.........8 times! WHen I was diagnosed, I was going up to 35x a day, but Since treatment that has gone down to about 15-20 which is better! Atleast people aren't making fun of me for going to the bathroom every 2 seconds.......I was becoming the but of many jokes! LOL

I think about every three to four hours is normal. It can depend a great deal on how much fluid is ingested. And it's not unusual for people with normal bladders to go more frequently when drinking fluids that are diuretic, such as coffee.
