I am new here and was wondering what kind of summer fruits are IC friendly.
Are peaches OK?

Watermelon, honeydew, pears, very ripe bananas, blueberries, are the "safest" choices... some people can also tolerate small amounts of mango... it's basically up to you to experiment! If you want to try eating peaches, I'd suggest you wait till it's very ripe and take some tums or prelief with it!

Unfortunately, things like fruits are SO individual for tolerences. To make it worse, its also by season, date, or what combination of foods you ate it with. I find fruits to be a trial and error (and in my case, mostly error).
Myself, I can only eat peaches that have been cooked or raw with something else like meats.
If you are going to try them, take prelief, pyridium, and drink LOTS of water with um. But all and all- enjoy them because sometimes, a little pain is worth it :)

I can eat watermelon, pears and blueberries. I haven't tried honeydew but I cannot tolerate bananas at all.

I always "retry" bananas. Oh, I miss them so much. Always with no luck. I ate a half of one yesterday no problem, but the other half today got me.
The stupid thing is I know I'll break down again in a month and do the same thing. I feel like I am an out of control gorilla...can't resist the bananas...:loco:

Do you wait for the bananas to be super ripe? I've noticed I can tolerate tiny amounts and just not to overdo it... sooo just eat half a banana every couple of days, so you give your bladder a break in between (betcha it'll work!).

Through trial, error and with much research I am eating a full array of fruit. What I learned was to eat fruit in the morning for breakfast. FRUIT ONLY!! Fruit digests faster than other foods and causes acid for us. If you have a lot of bladder inflamation when you start you may have to begin with the safe fruits for a while. It wasn't long before I was eating a large plate of melons, strawberries, ripe bananas, figs, dates, grapes, etc. every morning for my breakfast and I really began to feel so much better. I also followed that up with a good high alkaline diet and today I enjoy 3-4 hour intervals with no potty break, void 12 to 20 ounces at a time, can go places and do things that I didn't think would be possible for me two years ago and my urine checks in the alkaline level instead of the acid level. I must add that I began this with lots of prayer for wisdom and guidance. Good luck to you.

Hi Natalie, I think Sacausa is right. It depends on what else you eat through day. I can eat a half of a banana somedays and other days I can't.

I think this is something you will have to try for yourself and see what will work for you.

I wish there was a list of fruits and vitamins that IC'er can take, but we all react different to it.

Hope the Best, Trishann

watermelon, honey dew, cantalope, blueberries and pears are about it for me. cherries are BAD NEWS. the yellow cherries are ok in moderation, but the red ones are no good. sad, i love them so. i think i miss fruit the most out of everything. that and spices besides salt. lemon makes me flair but i eat it anyway. i just cannot have seafood without lemon. i used to have such a passion for food.
