Urised/Usept has been a real mainstay for me since diagnosis helping manage pain & symptoms- and is suddenly near impossible to find in the US. Anyone know why? Has anyone found a reliable source - or a more readily available alternative?
Dr prescribed Pyridium which unfortunately makes me quite ill... :(

I can't take Pyridium, it makes symptoms worse. My doc has prescribed Urelle, and that's worked on and off pretty well.
As for the Urised, I've never used it, so I can't help you there.

It was prescribed a month ago and my pharmacy finally got it in and then they tell me my Insurance won't cover it?? :cussing: Is it worth paying for?? I mean does it really WORK?? Because if so I will just pay for it.

Thanks very much to all, for the info. I will see if my Dr thinks it appropriate to prescribe Urelle as a backup or alternative - I just looked it up & it has several of the same ingredients and same basic purpose so I definitely want to check it out. I'm assuming if you are obtaining it without difficulty then hopefully I can too :-) Thank you for mentioning it.
Raw materials problem isn't good, but at least it is not that the FDA ordered the drug withdrawn from the market (had that happen with several things so far!) so maybe this is temporary. What a nuisance. Thanks very much for letting me know, Tigger_gal.
debbyakamom, I can only tell you that it helps me, and I feel the difference when I do not have it. Your mileage may vary. :) I have been trying internet pharmacies, calling all over, and I am fully prepared to pay for 6 months in advance CASH if that's the only way I can get a reliable supply. For me it is a quality-of-life issue; if you are not familiar with the product it is a urinary tract painkiller, and a mild antiseptic to prevent any infection, and a relaxant against bladder spasms. I've had problems with all of the above, and this keeps all that in check most of the time. Plus it just generally relaxes the bladder muscles so on most days I have more time in between 'rest breaks' too. So for me in my individual case, it helps with overall management of the condition.
While for me personally I'd pay out the cash if I couldn't get it any other way, you don't know how it will work for you yet so here are 2 things you might check into before you decide : Urised is the expensive brand name, Usept & several other equivalents are cheaper generics and those may be covered by your insurance instead (if the pharma has those) so ask about it. If the pharmacy is then unable to get the generics (my pharma hasn't been able to get ANYTHING lately), perhaps they can get the insurance to cover some or all of the cost if DAW, ie dispensed as written meaning the Dr ordered it specifically non-generic. You may have to call the Dr on that one. Might work, the last time I got a refill that was exactly what the pharmacy did because they were out of absolutely everything but the costly Urised - that way they could give me the necessary medication AND get me some insurance coverage so I got it DAW basically because there were no other options. Now I'm scrambling to try to get something sorted out before that runs out too - I got their last bottle!

deb, it is the only thing that I have found that helps me when I am having spasms.. why don't you call your uro and tell him your ins will not cover it, and ask if he has any samples.
