I am currently having instillations which they rotate. One time they use, Lidocaine, Marcaine, and Heparin and the following visit they use DMSO. I have been reading a lot about the DMSO causing damage. Can I just get the Lidocaine treatments and tell them I want to skip the DMSO? Also, can one have a treatment if they are menstruating? Thanks for your help.

I have never heard of going back and forth between the two treatments. You really won't know which one is benefiting you the most. I think you should share your concern about the dmso treatments with your doctor and I see no reason he should not let you do the heparin instills only.
Yes, instills can be done when menstrating if you wear a tampon.

I agree they maybe alternating them to help the DMSO not be as irritating at first, so I would talk to your doctor and ask!
I can not wear tampons!! By my choice when we did them at the office I refused to do instills during my cycle, my doctor insisited it didn't matter and it kinda annoyed him. Now I do them at home even during my cycle which is much more comfortable for me,, just makes sure everything is really clean.
