is this normal with cipro? i've taken it before, but only a day or two at a time. i'm on it twice a day for 2 weeks currently, and i'm in soooooo much pain still (worse actually) and peeing constantly. i'd been doing all right until a few days ago (started cipro monday).

i did a month-long round of doxycycline a few years ago and noticed the bladder felt really good a few weeks into it. i had a gradual decrease in frequency and leakage within a couple of days after starting it. but with the cipro, everything is gradually increasing and getting worse. the pelvic pain from the uterine infection is bad, the endometriosis pain is bad, and the bladder is just screaming for relief every 30 minutes. i spent the day with a friend who is 38 weeks pregnant, and i used the bathroom twice as often as she did, so i know something is really wrong. lol.

is it all right to take urelle along with the antibiotics to calm the flare?

should i call the dr who diagnosed the uterine problem and ask for a different antibiotic? i don't know his after-hours number though. my ob/gyn referred me to him.

or should i call my urologist?

i'm not in my happy place right now. any advice?

*sigh*

I've taken Urelle with Cipro. No problems. My uro prescribes Urelle to me on a regular basis to help calm bladder down when I need it. It doesn't do much for me, though.

i started the urelle friday night, and so far nothing has changed. i think i'm going more now. and leaking.

what is this? i just want some sleep! and i want to be able to get out and do something without worrying how long the drive will be.

urelle shouldn't take this long to kick in, should it? my pee has been blue since saturday morning, and i've been trying to take 4 a day. but it doesn't seem to be helping. i don't think it's the cipro. i'm thinking i'm flaring, but i dont' know why. and i'm frustrated that what i have isn't helping.

thanks for listening. if you have any more advice, i'll take it. i have an all-day meeting (beating if you ask me) wednesday, and i need some relief before then. i don't have pain, just have to go. and if i dont' go, i leak.

*sigh* gosh, i hate this. i know we all do actually.

Maybe your doctor can prescribe some pyridium. When I flare, it helps a lot more than the blue stuff. I actually take Cipro and feel 100% better, but I've recently found out that I have an infection that is sensitive to Cipro, so that is why. Since you do well on Doxy, do you think your doctor can prescribe that for you? Will it help your uterine infection? I hope you find some relief. When I flare, I also take darvocet. I keep that on hand.

holly,
i do have darvocet. didn't realize i could use it for a flare. cool. i talked to the dr who prescribed the cipro, and he said to stay on it, but to call my urologist. so i'm waiting for her to call me back now.

i have now officially gone an hour since my last trip. i have to go, but i'm forcing myself to wait. i wonder if being on summer vacation (teacher) has just relaxed my bladder habits too much? at work, i have to wait even if i can't. at home, i have access to the potty as much as i need. guess i should retrain the thing? :?

That's awesome. Darvocet saves me sometimes. I have to be careful to eat, though, because it can make me extremely nauseous if I don't.

Have you had a broth culture done? I always feel better on antibiotics, so I did one a few weeks ago, and they found three infections. I'm not hoping to get cured of IC and I feel 100% better. I'm even drinking wine and eating whatever I want. The only thing that has bothered me so far is green tea, but it IS extremely acidic as far as tea goes. I just miss my hot tea!

holly, i haven't had a broth culture. a few years ago, this urologist had my try doxycycline for a month (and my dh too). i felt awesome toward the end of that month and felt great for almost 2 years. the pain only started creepign back a few months ago. i was able to drink wine and beer and sodas too. it was great.

she did call, and i have to give a sample tomorrow. there's a chance i'm getting a UTI now with the meds. grrrrrr. this sucks. but i'm on the cipro for just another week. perhaps i could stick it out? we'll see. i hope there's no infection tomorrow. that would just kick my butt more than i need. kwim?

thanks for the help. i'm trying my best to avoid the darvocet, but i might take some in a while to help me sleep. i haven't slept much in the past few days, and i could sure use it.

i gave them my sample today, but i dont' know if they have enough. i was trying to pee into the cup during a fire alarm with the nurse knocking on the door telling me they were evacuating. but if they have enough, i should know friday what is going on.

oh, goodness....I hate to laugh, but I can only imagine you in there with the alarm going off. :lmao:

Come back and post here so I'll be able to see how you are doing after the results. I'm praying you get some rest!
