Have you tried Elavil? It helps me with frequency. There's a generic Amitriptylin so even if your insurance doesn't cover it it's dirt cheap.

For me and for others it seems to start working pretty quick, like 2-3 days. I tried going off it in Feb and within a few weeks I was back up to 30-40 times a day in the RR. Back on it and in a few days I was back down to just my "normal" hourly and no more night time pees. One advantage is that it helps you sleep thru the night, so it is best to take it around 7pm or so, depending on when you get up in the morning. I get up at 6 am. Some people find that if they take it too late they are very groggy the next day. Also, this side effect seems to increase the higher the dose. 10 mg is the lowest dose, I would recommend starting with that for a few weeks, if you see good results then stick with that dose. If not, then increase 20 mg, etc. Of course, talk to your doctor about all of this up front. Some doctors prescribe 50 mgs to start and it just knocks people out, but if you start low and slowly increase if you need to, then this side effect seems to go away. I am not sensitive to meds as many of us are, nor do I usually experience any side effects, and there are some other side effects with this med that you need to watch out for and interactions it can have with other meds you may be taking. Elavil is one of the most commonly prescribed meds for IC, so it's worth a shot!
