Hello everyone, and thank you for your responses to my first post. I finally got a referral from my PCP to a urologist. The medicine my PCP gave me worked....for about two weeks, but now the pain and frequency of urination are coming back. I plan on making the appointment asap. Does anyone have any questions that I should ask the urologist with the first appointment? Thanks for any helpful info you folks contribute. This is a great site and I feel better just knowing that I can come here and know there are others going through this.:grouphug:

What medicine are you taking that worked so quickly?

Hi NancyS,
The drug I am on at present is Hyoscyamine. The doc said it is an anti-spasmodic. As I said though, it seems to be "slowing" and not working quite as good as it first did. It took about 7 days to really notice a difference when I first started taking it. It took the pain away and the frequent urination urge, which helped in my job and helped me to sleep at night. But I feel the pain and urge coming back. Maybe my dose needs to be increased, I don't know. This is a "sub-lingual" med that you let dissolve under your tongue, four times a day.

I also take this -- originally it was prescribed for my IBS, then I found out it helped my IC..

Carol... that is exactly what I am taking now...it was prescribed to me by my primary care doctor. I take it two times a day, I have the pill form however. I have been taking it for several days now and have noticed a slight decrease in frequency. As for the pain it may be helping... it is hard to tell though because I am also taking some vicadin.
Thankyou for your response...it's nice to know there are others out there who care.

NancyS, I also take the pill form, but I put it under my tongue. It is a small white pill, 0.125 mg. I also take vicodin if I have alot of pain. I don't like taking that, but sometimes you have to.
