Hi everyone,
I'm just looking for some advice on morphine and to see how you react to it. Does it help you? Does it make you itch? I was on demoral but they changed me to morphine and I'm not finding it helps my pain as much. Please let me know how much you are taking as well. Thanks!

:cat: Hey there!!! I used to take Morphine (MS Contin 30mg) and it also made me itch...although it did get better over time...I now take Oxycontin 40 mg 1-2 times a day and I have no problems with itching. Now I have a little nauseated feeling, but it is getting better...good luck and know that there are more pain medicines out there if morphine does not agree with you.

Thank you! I'm having trouble finding a medicine that will help with the pain but not either knock me out or make me throw up. I do like the morphine better than the demoral as far as making me sick, but it doesn't help the pain as much. I take the long acting 30 mg every 12 hours and then have fast acting 15 mgs to take as needed. I wish there was something that we could take that didn't have all of these side effects. Maybe I'll try the oxycontin next. That is of course if my pain doctor ever sees me again. Out of 6 office visits I have seen the doctor twice. He never shows up at the office. I called my insurance office and asked if he was charging them for my visits and he is, so I reported him to their fraud department. He'll probably really never see me now. They take my co-pay sit me in a room, then someone comes in and says the doctor is not in and they send me home. What a bunch of crap. I have left crying most times wondering why a doctor would treat people like this. I went this week again, and at least this time he left refill prescriptions for me. What a guy. They should take his license away. If I have anything to do with it they will. I hate to be vindictive, but if you don't want to be a doctor, then don't be one. It's illegal to bill insurance companies when you are not seeing patients. I hope they lock him up. This is a pain specialist in Tampa florida.

I am so sorry!!!!!! This definitely is fraud...my husband is a police officer and he said THEY cannot charge you for a visit if a Doctor was not there...unless someone prescribed the medicine..ex: PA, but still that is illegal since the PA does not have the ability to sign off on pain medicine. Call either 1. Your urologist 2. your family doctor or 3. Find another pain doctor...explain what happened to you and that you cannot tolerate the morphine and need something better. I really like the oxycontin 40 mg 1-2 times a day...I used to be on the EXACT same MS Contin 30 mg twice a day so I can definitely tell you at least for me the Oxycontin is way better. But, at first, may make you a little nauseated...ask for some Reglan...this really helps..
