Hi Everone!:hi:
First I just want to say that I'm not exactly new to the board. I ended up having to re-register, because I had not been on here for awhile and had forgotten my password and the original email address I used to register is no longer valid---so that brings us to here.
So, first I'll just give a brief history. I had frequency my whole life:toilet: , the doctors thought I would always have it due to some surgeries they had done when I was younger (removing a blockage from my urethra and then dilating the opening.) When I was 18 I started having horrible lower abdominal pains. Finally 3 years later I was in and out of the emergency room and ended up dropping out of college because I was in so much pain. After a lot of horrible doctors and unhelpful diagnoses (it's all in your head!):headbang: --I finally found a doctor who said it was either endometriosis or IC. They decided to do a laporocopy and a cystoscopy with hydro at the same time. This is when we found out it was IC. Then, after trying several meds for it and a horribly failed interstim trial--I finally got admitted to the pain clinic--which has been a blessing! I finally have doctors who care about what is going on with me and are actually trying to help. I have since been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, IBS and Facet Syndrome.
Ok, so now my questions---first I've noticed every month I tend to have blood in my urine (this usually occurs midway between my periods) Is this a normal thing with IC? I've asked my doctor about it but at the time I had a cyst on my ovary and she contributed it to that but at the last ultrasound the cyst was gone--the bleeding however is not. And my second question concerns retention, I've noticed lately that sometimes I feel like I have to go so bad but then I have a really hard time getting it to start. Anyone else have that problem?
Thanks.

Are you my twin or what?!?! ;)

My retention is definitely the week I remove the birthcontrol patch and start my period. I also have trouble mid-cycle. (but this month I am starting the continual b/c so no more periods for me!!!) :woohoo:

With almost every urine test I have, there is some red blood cells, white blood cells, bacteria and mucous but usually not enough to constitute an infection ... sometimes the culture is positive but most times it is not.

Do you know how much you are retaining? Do you self-cath at all?

I know what you mean about being in and out of ER so much. I had to go to ER this past weekend cuz I popped my ankle at work (and now it's infected!!) ... this will sound wierd, but it was "nice" to be there and not be bladder or retention related. :lmao:
