I can't pee and its about to drive me insane.. I am just dribbling, and it hurts hurts hurts.. I am under a tremondous amount of stress, which is playing a key role. However I am sure there is a bladder infection brewing........
gonig to call the uro tomorrow, or i am going to bust... I swear if I knew how to cath, I'd be digging out my straws..... :biglaugh:
ok off to sit in the tub again and see if it helps me...

Cindy,

Maybe turn your stim up? When you go see the uro, maybe learn how to self-cath, in case this happens again on a weekend? Feel better!

Hugs,
Jess

I hope you feel better soon - got any pyridium around the house to use until you can get to the uro? Or pain pills? One of those things would hopefully work. Sometimes soaking in a hot bathtub will help diminish the pain and also make it easier to void.

If it's a UTI, be sure to drink lots of fluids to try to flush it out, and go to the ER as soon as you can.

I agree that it would be a good thing to learn how to self-cath in situations like this, it really isn't as hard as you'd think (I think it hurts less to self-cath than to have someone else do it) and it would save you some agony if you have problems with retention now and again.

Blessings, hope you feel better soon,
Lori

the tub made me stop hurting till I got out.... ggggrrr. I take urised but its temp off market.. I am calling my uro tomorrow.. I retain 70 ccs of my 200 cc bladder, I am also going to ask them how to cath... I can't deal with this.. I tried to turn mu stim up but that made me retain more.. which makes since, so I turned it down, down and then off.... hopefully it will help.. I go in to go and it feels like its rightthere and good and strong, and nothing but dribbles. I don't think they would get enough to even test.....
thanks for your help ladies

Cindy--

That sounds like bladder spasms, too. Mine would prevent me from voiding all the way. Maybe ask for an anti-spasm med? Good luck tomorrow with the Uro.

Oh, geez, Cindy! :grouphug: I really hope you can get into the uro tomorrow!

Come on now, pee! You can do it, girl! Come on!

You know I only wish you the best & hope this ends ASAP. Sorry you're hurting.

Now, grab a pillow & get back in the tub!

This happens to me some also. Often it is the pelvic floor muscles. Here is something that helps me a little sometimes, I lay down and try a little "physical therapy" or pelvic floor work. (I got this idea off of this site). Insert a finger into the vagina as you are reclined and gently press on both sides with your finger (grafic, but oh, well....). If you feel the muscles tight, this may help relax them by pushing gently on them. I usually have a few sore places and this helps a little bit. In addition, levsin .125 sublingual is a bladder relaxant that usually does not cause retention.

Good luck. I HATE it when this happens. I so feel for you girl!!

It does sound like you must have an infection brewing. Is there an urgent care clinic near you?

Warm hugs,
Donna

It does sound like infection, and an urgent care may be able to cath you to relieve the pressure!

I did have retention badly one night and couldn't go anywhere! I put an ice pack over my bladder etc, and it seemed to calm everything down, and I was able to go after awhile!

Just don't let it go to far before getting some help!
Hope you feel better soon a:grouphug:

((((Cindy)))) I am so sorry you're flaring. I have retention with mine too. It is terrible. I am glad you are going to the uro tomorrow. I do think it is a good idea to learn to self-cath. I have to do it from time to time, and I agree with Lori, that it is much less painful when I do it myself. When I was first learning, I used a small mirror on a stand to help see what I was doing, but now I dont need it. If you dont have a prescription for Lidocaine, ask for one tomorrow and use it to numb you up first, and then as a lube for the cath. Ask for 5 French catheters. They are very small. (They use them for infant feeding tubes.) It does take a bit longer to drain with these, but they have a cap on the end, so you can leave them in all night and cap it off, if you wish. Also, I find them to be much less painful. Once he teaches you, if you get home and get in a bind, you can call me and I will talk you thru it. (If there is no answer, that means I am online, so email me and tell me to call you, and I will.) There is really nothing to it. It is one of those things that sounds much harder than it is.

For tonite, try getting an ice pack and placing it between your legs to numb up the urethra to get the urgency and twitching feeling to quit. Also, if you have any muscle relaxors or pain meds, by all means take them! I wish I lived near you. I would cath you myself! If all else fails, go to the ER. It IS an emergency when you cant go! Dont wait like I used to do either! Go now, so you can hurry up and get some relief. They can put a Foley in for you, until you can get to the uro and learn to cath. Also, they can check for infection for you, and give you something stronger for the pain, and some Pyridium. It is the middle of the night, it wont be that crowded, and since it is a true emergency, they will get you right in. I am begging you to go, because I know how miserable this is!

Please let us know what happens. I am so concerned about you, I know how awful it is. Sending you healing thoughts and gentle hugs, Amy

Hi Cindy:

Your doc will help you with that. I had the same problem in the past and they showed me how to self cath. It must be infection time. I went to urgent care and I have an infection (last night). Retention is horrible. I have a fairly large bladder but can retain about 2/3's of it (800/1200 mls).

I agree with Amy, it's an emergency if you can't pee! Especially if you are drinking lots of liquids and they're not coming out. Hope you get to the doctor, ER, or something soon. Let us know how you're doing!:grouphug:

I went to the uro this morning for a culture, I have such a bad infection the doctor wanted to see me.. It might have been because I am running a fever. he asked me a couple times if I had blood in my urin. I got an rx for 5 days of 5mm mg of cipro, I don't know how many aday, I didn'tthink to look, and its at the pharmacy getting filled.. he also gave me pyrelle HB for pain, spasms and frequency, associated with infection.

thanks you all for your wonderful advis and prayers..

Karma, I did lmao, a whole ounce, thats the most at one time in 3 day..

So happy for you that you went in and found out it is an infection! (Yes, I thought that too, Karma! LOL!) I am glad that you are on the road to getting some relief. Did they show you how to self-cath, in case this happens again? If not, you need to call back and make an appt to learn this. We all know how miserable it is when you cant go. Hope you start feeling better soon! Hugs, Amy

Oh man Cindy. When I first read your first reply I said yeap i bet she has an awful UTI brewing. I feel for you hon. I still suffering from my UTI. We had to go with a less effected anti. in hopes that would work because the one that will work will conter react with my patch. the others that i can take is by IV. and it will require me to be in the hosp. so i'm trying to get pass that of course.

heating pads and ice packs are my fav. when I'm hurting like that. Since I can't take anything with dyes in them klonopins will stop the bladder spasm for me.

I do hope and pray the medicine he gave you kicks in quickly and that its the right anti. if it isn't at least the cipro will keep it from getting wrose until the lab test is back.
I bet the reason he kept asking you did you see any blood in your urine is one of two reason. One they may have seen a lot of blood in the office lab. two he may had been scared you had a kidney stone also.
I'm sure what ever the cause for him asking it had to have something to do with what they seen in the office lab.

let me know if their is anything I can do to help you. You know i'm the queen when it comes to UTI's

sending you lots of hugs and prayers remember to rest, rest, rest.

Rhonda

Well I ended up in urgent care tonight at 7ish.... The pryelle they gave me set me on fire, and stopped me from being able to even dribble... I called the pharmacy to find out if this was the same as pyridum, and he said yes.. I can't take pyridum.... and I told the doctor I seen, that I cannot take it, it makes me retain, and oh boy it did and then some... (my uro is on vacation)
I took it about 12 and by 3 I was burning like the dickens, and by 7 I was in tears... I went to urgent care, and he tried to send me to the hospital (yet again, not my reg doctor) I busted out in tears and told him that my dr would never turn me away, and all I wanted was cathed.. Finally he they cathed me but it took them 3 trys, and 3 different sizes of caths, my uretha was nearly swelled shut, they couldn't get it in. then after all that there was only 10 cc's in there, and it felt like my bladder was going to burst. They told me I had an allergic reaction to the preyell, and gave me a shot of steriods, the urge to go like right this second has calmed to a 5, and the pain to about a 5, but the female parts are still burning like the depths of hell. and thats at a steady 8.. I guess that good from the 10+ pain I was in.... I got home about 8:45 and they told me that if should take affect in an hour, and he was pretty much right. I even walked 4 blocks to watch the fire works..... no one would go with me but I don't care.... I had fun with out them, even tho I went alone.

Thanks for you hugs and well wishes, now lets hope the burning stops...

Cindy,
I'm sorry hon you had to walk alone to watch the fireworks. I so wish someone had went with you since you was in so much pain, from the sound of things you are still in pain bless your heart. I know how that feels.

right now its hard for me to walk at all. I'm still battling a uti/kidney infection which is taking longer to get over because I'm taking levaquin which is only 10% affected on this infection because the one medicine that is 100% will counter react with my pain patch if i go longer then six hours without my patch I'm in so much pain I can't walk at all and littler cry out in pain with the shakes.

my hunners are back full force the pain is running down my leg and in my lower part of my back so its time to set up surgery again to have them removed.
life really stinks right now with my IC, infections, and hunners. I know how bad your suffering and so wish i could help you.
sending you tons of hugs and prayers
Rhonda
