in pain after hydrodistention

Hi everyone...

I had a hydrodistention and bladder biopsy exactly 8 days ago, and was given oercicet for the pain afterwards and an antibiotic. After about three days of razor sharp pain when peeing, I felt better for a day and then started to feel a lot worse, as if I have a UTI. I went to the doctor yesterday to give a urine sample to see if I have an infection, and he said there is no bacteria or white blood cells in my urine but there are some red blood cells which is probably from the scabbing of my bladder from when they did the biopsy of it...has this happened to anyone else? How long does it normally take for people to feel 100% better after having hydro and biopsy?? Thanks so much , my doc just said to drink lots of water, and I dont know how long it is a good idea for me to stay on the percicet. Please let me know! I just really feel like I have a UTI, even though the urine test proves otherwise.

I had a hydrodistension last Monday and yes it hurts very badly afterwards. It feels like my bladder is blown and as if I am getting my period and as if my bowels are blownand stinging pain in the vagina. I haven't been to the doctor to check for UTI, but will tomorrow. At the hospital they told me that it will take a while before the pain is less. They also said that it is like small surgery, there are 3 wounds in the bladder and that will take a while to heal. If you don't trust it just go and see your urologist, that's what I would do. You know what you feel.

I think it varies from person to person. I dont want to scare you because my story is not typical but I didnt feel better for almost 2 months. I had that razor sharp pain in my bladder and urethra for a very long time. Needless to say, I wasnt one who benefited from a hydro.
He is right that you need to drink lots of water. I would stay on the percocet as long as you need to and not worry about it. If you need a refill on it, dont hesitate to let your doctor know. My doc only gave me 5 mg vicodin and I was in so much pain afterwards. And he only gave me enough for 5 days after and I needed it much longer than that. I had to go in and explain to him how bad I was and he understood then. My urine was FULL of blood too.
Hang in there hun, it will get better. Try to rest, drink lots of water, use a heating pad on your bladder,and get some TLC( tender loving care!)
