Hi,

I Just Started The Cytotec Six Days Ago And Sometimes If Anything I Feel As If I Am Having More Bladder Pain. Did Anyone Else Find That In The Beginning Of Taking Cytotec? I Looked Up On Rxlist.com And As S.e. For Cytotec Under "genitourinary" They Say:
Polyuria (passing More Urine), Dysuria (bladder Pain) And Urinary Tract Infection. So I Just Hope The Drug Is Not Making Me Worse Before It Makes Me Better. Does Anyone Have An Opinion On This?
I Am Only Taking 200 Mcg. A Day. I Decided I Would Do The Same As
Sacausa And Stick With That Dosage As She Is Doing So Well On It And Particularly If The Cytotec Is Bothering My Bladder At The Start I Don't Want To Irritate It More By Taking Additional Pills.

Thanks For Any Help Or Advice. I Have Really Put My Hopes On This Drug Working So I Am Trying Not To Get Discouraged Just Yet.

Louise, I dont have an answer for you, I can only suggest, if its worse on it for a little while, try stopping for a few days and see what happens. Hope the pain and all goes away.

Thanks For The Post. I Have Had To Stop The Cytotec For Now; I Feel Like I Have A Uti!!! I Am So Discouraged As I Had Hoped This Drug Was Going To Be The One That Would Finally Work For Me.
I Submitted A Urine Sample To The Lab Yesterday To Check For A Uti.
But With Our Holiday Tomorrow, The Doctor's Office Is Going To Be Closed Through To Monday So I Probably Won't Get An Answer About The Culture Until Tuesday. In The Meanwhile, We Were Planning To Go Away Tomorrow For About 5-6 Days, But I Sure Don't Feel Like Sitting In A Car Right Now. Hopefully With Stopping The Cytotec I Will Feel A Little Better Tomorrow Afternoon So We Can Leave. Grrrrrrrr!!!!!

I've been feeling that way since Jan. and I was finally diag. w/one in April, havent felt better since. My uro has/had me on Bactrim once every nite, for six months, tomorrow would have been two months, I stopped two days ago. Went to my reg. doc yesterday for the culture and sens. Hoping it shows something OR the stopping of the bactrim will help. Crossing my fingers its not the cytotec for either of us, but if it is, its being cut out of my regimen! Good luck Louise, hope you feel better. I get my results in a week. BLECH LOL! ;)

I'm so sorry that the cytotec isn't working yet for you... I missed a dose the other day and was in agony.... in fact I missed the dose, the day I had to fly which made it even worse!!!

Could it be that since starting cytotec you've been less strict with the diet?
Are you using any antiacids?
Are you under more stress?
Could it be your uterus that hurts instead of your bladder?
(I experienced REALLY bad uterus pain/cramps for the first 2 weeks on cytotek, which made my pain worse... but now I'm almost 100% better)

It could also be a UTI, but sometimes if you wait a while with a UTI it goes away by the time you get to the doctor so it could turn out negative....

I really want to encourage you to try it again and stick with it... If something works for me I just want everyone to feel better like I do, I can't believe I was in pain for so long and now that I'm going to college for premed in the fall, I'll need the pain relief more than ever... and the pain meds make me whoosy and not alert!

Hi Gals,

Thanks For Your Help. I Stopped The Cytotec For Eight Days And Had My Urine Tested For A Uti. I Never Heard Back From My Gp So That Means It Did Not Show Infection. But Since I Stopped The Cytotec, My Pain Has Gone Back To The Way It Was Before I Started The Cytotec. It Made My Urethra Sting And Burn And Generally I Felt As If I Had A Uti. Since Stopping It, The Burning And The Worst Of The Pain Has Diminished And That Occurred While We Were On A Car Holiday For A Week. So I Feel That The Cytotec Is Just Not For Me. I Can't See Starting On It Again When I Feel I Was Suffering From Side Effects Of The Drug. I Was So Hopeful That This Was Going To Be The Drug That Would Help Me, But I Think I Have To Be Realistic And Accept That Not All Drugs Affect Us The Same, Good Or Bad.

cytotec did nothing for my bladder and I stuck with it for 3 months.

Sorry it didnt work for you guys, wish there was one universal thing we could take and "POOF" all better, this really stinks ya know. :)
