Diflucan after Antibiotics

I have a perscripton for Fluconazole but have not taken it. I just finished Cipro and now have severe retention. I'm drinking a lot too. I have to go to the lab tomorrow morning for another culture. Would the Fluconazole effect the culture reading? I don't want to take it if it may. Help..........

Diflucan(fluconazole)does not affect the outcome of urine cultures. Diflucan is specific to candida albicans, other wise known as yeast. It doesn't affect bacterial growth.

I'm not too sure about Diflucan and culture reading but you just got off Cipro and it hasn't even been three days, I doubt the bacteria will show. I hope it does though.

Severe retention?....you need to see the doc asap and ask for Bactrim since you felt like it was helping you.

The retention may be pfd flare up....which is pretty common after a UTI. I don't think Diflucan will effect a culture. Is the culture just to make sure your infection cleared up? Or is because of your symptoms? Hope you feel better soon!
