I don't know what to do..I went to the Dr today for my first Heparin instillation and instead of feeling better, I felt WORSE. ALL DAY. Not to mention my IBS is acting up AND I'm on my period. Every bump I hit on the way home was like a knife in the gut. My Dr. won't give me anything for pain because he says "You'll just become dependant on them" and "You need to stick it out and wait until the treatments (Elmiron and rescue instills) work., It could be a month." I'm like ok, I've been in pain for a LONG time, you're supposed to HELP me. Part of me wants to just deal with it and let him do his work and the other part wants to get a 2nd opinion. I don't want narcotics or anything, just SOMETHING to give me some relief. I don't understand why the first instill I had helped and this one made it worse. UGH!!! :cussing:  :headbang:

I see Dr. John Zavaleta at Las Colinas Ob/Gyn (972-869-4488). He knows a lot about IC so he's very sympathetic. His nurse, who performs the instillations, has IC as well so she understands what you're going through. I always felt worse after the rescue solution - like I needed to pee but my body wouldn't let me. Plus after so many times with a catheter in my urethra... let's just say I could live the rest of my life with not ever having to experience that again. I've personally found that taking Zoloft, Elmiron and Ditropan along with watching what I eat and not pushing myself too hard, controls my IC pretty well - not to the point I can run a marathon or anything strenuous like that, but enough to live a pretty "normal" life. Hope this helps :o)

I see Dr. Michael Carley (urogyn) in Dallas for the IC and I see Dr. Edward Shin for pain management. They are both awesome docs - and I have seen some doozies!
Your doc sounds like one I saw when I first moved to the Dallas area. I bet it is the same person!
