Okay, went to a second uro cuz HATED the first guy's bedside manner, or lack there of, and the second uro isn't convinced it is IC as I've never had a bladder problem before (I had lap for endo and to open a fallopian tube in february 2006 and this started in May 2006), he is going to do hydro/cysto to find out more, but told me to stop Elmiron (from first doc) for the time being, as it was ripping up my stomach (I had just started trying to take it out of the capsule as recommended here but he told me to just stop).

Because of the stomach problem I started Prevacid again and I think my urgency/frequency is better!!?1? I had taken it about 3 months ago for GERD after the lap for endo and I took it for about 8 weeks, and went off cold turkey as I was feeling fine and on vacation, so I was basically forgetting to take it, and then about 10 days after being off it that is when the whole IC symptoms started... Does anyone have any insite on this? I am wondering if the prevacid was masking it before (like the surgery caused the ic but the prevacid was keeping it hidden), or could it have caused it, I never had any bladder problems prior to this. I also wonder, in my reading here, and there, Prevacid is suppose to increase your chances of a yeast infection, which I think I have now and then I read on here that yeast infections can cause IC to flare, so if the prevacid is helping, wouldn't it also be hurting. I'm so confused, as I'm sure are those that are reading this! I read that excessive yeast can have detrimental effects on the body and the prevacid causes the yeast overgrowth, so now I'm afraid to take it although it seems to be helping my symptoms, but then again, I don't even know if I have IC per the second guy. The symptoms are urgency/frequency/pressure.

I'd appreciate any views/help that can be given....

ok my insight is these days is that the hydro cysto isn't being used as a good diagnostic tool as much these days because it can cause some inflammation and even a negative result is not a definate sign you don't have IC.

That being said prevacid makes sense to help IC. My GERD meds helped my IC and that is normal.....part of a lot of patients treatment for their IC.

Prevacid may increase your chances of a yeast infection because of the change in ph makes you more vulnerable to any kind of infection....but GERD is a sign you were too acidic before so I wouldn't suspect you would encessarily have that problem.

My guess is that you do have IC and if the prevacid is helping I would continue to take it. If you are really worried about yeast infection a pobiotic could help prevent it as can other self helps.

So taking the prevacid like "indefinately" is okay? That doesn't screw up the body?
