My doctor has prescribed me to Lyrica which I have yet to try because of how expensive it is and the side effects I've heard..extreme fatigue. My pain is burning/stinging sensations in my urethra for 9 months now, do you think I should try Elmiron instead of Lyrica, does it help with urethral symptoms?

I too have urethra stinging and burning as my main symptom. I went to see a vulvar specialist last week and she said those type of pains are almost always related to nerve damage. She has sent me to a physical therapist on Tuesday for evaluation of pelvic floor muscles. She believes when these trigger points in the muscles are released, the urethral nerve symptoms will lessen and hopefully dissapear. She also said any injury or problem with the low back and coccyx can also cause urinary tract symptoms.

Erin, forgot to say that Elavil 25mg when urethra spasms or acts up is very helpful to calm things down.
