I somehow lost my previous post same subject. I try this again:
I have been taking cystoprotek for about three months, however; I had a couple of short breaks between due to me not ordering a new bottle on time. I am in a terrible flare even on Cystoprotek. Don't know if my diet is the culprit, but you'd think that the cystoprotek would help by now.:help:

The info that came with mine, (right from Algonot) says, 4 months is a good measure, and 6 months is even better. Maybe you ought to give them a call and see what they recommend? But is this your first flare since being on it? Maybe it has been working slowly but surely by making flares become few and far between? (reminds me of Elmiron, lol) Not totally erase them, but make them occur less and less....
Wish I had a definite answer for you!! The only thing I know for sure they recommend a 4 month trial before starting to make up your mind on it. I figured I'd give it 6 mo or more, just like I did for Elmiron. Good luck!! :)

Hi Tracey, No it's not my first flare while on it. My symptoms get better and worse literally sometimes by the minute or hour. Like yesterday I had a full 3 hours without one symptom. I even jogged a bit yesterday. Low and behold the next thing you know I'm in flare again. This flare has been really bad for 2 weeks. I think I'll have to go back to square 1 with diet etc... I had been adding in a few things off of the "may be okay" side of the diet. Thanks for your input. I'm really getting freaked because I'm going to Montreal, Canada to see my family on June 29. I will be sharing a hotel room with my 11 year old step-daughter and husband, and I'm worried about being in this flare still. Thanks for the help.

glassd18, perhaps the combination of running out & not taking them regularly, plus adding foods back in at the same time, caused you to flare? Maybe if you went back to the stricter diet and continue taking the CystoProtek on the suggested regular daily dose? Plus calling them would be a good idea, like Tracey said. They are real helpful with any questions...
Tracy, how goes it with you? I know it hasn't been very long since you started, but are you seeing any improvement at all?

I agree with sandi - the bladder may not have been ready for the jog yet, with everything else coinciding with it as well....
Hey sandi, things seem to be going well! :) I did have to contact them on the dosage, as it did cause me some serious intestinal gas, and scared me a bit, lol. ;) But they are so helpful, I think I found my dosing. I was to go back to one a day with my largest meal, then only 1 pill 3x's a day, instead of 2 pills at a time at the dosing. So far so good! I was having some discomforts before I started - things were still good from the stint on Elmiron - but wanted to nip the annoyances in the bud, and make sure things stayed good!! LOL And the minor annoyances aren't happening as often now!! So, that's enough for me to stick with it any way I can!!

Tracey, glad to hear things are so far so good. Did you ask them about switching to CystoProtek? Or are you just going to stay with the Alganot?

Yep, taking the Cystoprotek now, I think it was the change that caused me a few bumps in the road, since there are a couple extra added ingredients in the Cysto vs the regular Algonot. Think I had to let my body get used to it just like when I first started... But so far so good! Just that one really bad intestinal gas day, (oh it was awful!) on the "normal" dosing, but since I have modified the dose, no problems at all!! YIPPY!!! :)

Hey Tracy, I have the gas problem. Sorry TMI!! Probably isn't helping flare, right? Do you think it's the cystoprotek? It's pretty lethal. LOL! Maybe I should change my dosing. I'm doing 3 tabs at breakfast and 3 at supper. I hate changing doses because I'm afraid I'll undo the good so far.
