Hi everyone. I am just not sure, yet, what my problem is. I have been to the doctor about four times now. Today they finally put me on something called Hyocyamine, sublingual. I have had lower pelvic pain since the first of April. It is very painful and comes and goes. I have the urge to urinate frequently...sometimes I do, sometimes nothing. I am beginning to lose sleep because I wake up about every hour to go to the bathroom. I only get five hours sleep as it is, so I don't need this complication!! I have had my bladder checked as far as it "falling" and it is in the correct position. It is beginning to bother me at work. I test drive cars and you just can't stop and go to the bathroom whenever you want. So on the days I work I don't drink much liquids at all. I know this is not good, but other than quitting my job I don't have much choice. Does this sound like anything any of you folks have gone through or are going through? My problem is not yet to the point of being debilitating. I am hoping between my doctors and myself we can figure out what is going on and what to do about it before it comes to that. Any advice, words of wisdom or just to say "hi, I know what you are going through" would really be appreciated!!

It is scary not knowing what is going on. The doctors didn't know until last tuesday that I have IC (I've been in a lot of pain since Jan but I think it has been longer than that, kind of sad that I can't even remember the last time i felt good). I also have to go to the bathroom often, and it is frustrating me when I'm at work. I also feel bad having to get up so many times. At least my bosses understand but it doesn't make me feel better. I also think another frustrating part is not knowing someone around you that is going through the same thing as you ar. I know that you are not sure what you have yet, and good luck to you!

Seairah, hope the doctors can find out what is wrong. Are they going to do more test? Did you tell your doctor that you are not sleeping well, because of the getting up at night to urinate. It would be a good ideal to keep a dairy of how many times you urinate, day and night. Are you urinating little or alot? Also it would help, if you keep a record of how much fluid your drink each day?
Next time you see your doctor, then you will have something to work with, and maybe, you can find out what is going on.
Did your doctor tell you what it might be?

Hi::welcome:
I just wanted to say welcome to the ICN. There are so many supportive people on this site with a wealth of helpful information. A couple of things, I might read the patient handbook on this website and also you might want to start reading about IC and diet and perhaps try the IC diet and see if that helps at all. Most ICers find what they eat and drink directly impacts their pain, frequency etc. I am not familiar with the medication you are taking. I hope you get some answers soon and who knows, maybe you don't have IC at all and something else is causing your symptoms. I would say read, read and then read some more on this website as it will help clarify some things for you and teach you so much about IC.
All the best to you.:grouphug:
