hi, im 10 weeks pregnant and in near constant pain-its very hard to cope-am on Amitryptaline(elavil) with doctors approval-i think that helps me peeing so much but not the pain im taking 25mg-but the doc says i can go up to 50mg have done this for a few days but gone back to 25 again as im worried about it. My Uro said she'd do some research into giving me other treatments- but that was four weeks ago and i havent heard from her since-all i can do is use a hotwater bottle which barely eases the pain -iv now got permanant mottled marks on my belly and thighs from the heat! please help!!:help:

My uro and OB worked together when I was pregnant and offered me DMSO instills. I declined, however, as I am not a fan of DMSO and plus I did not want any medication whatsoever while I was pregnant for fear of unknown effects on my daughter.
I would maybe look into the DMSO treatments, since that seems to be safe.
I hope you feel better soon!
Hugs,
Jess

I did some Heprain/Kenollogue instills after my first trimester. My high-risk OB said those were ok sice they stayed in the bladder. Not to scare you, but he nixed me taking Elavil. He did say it was ok to take Pyridium though. I feel for you, since I was in so much distress in the beginning. But it did level out after the first trimester. The pressure on your bladder is the worst from the growing baby!

i am almost 9 weeks pregnant and i have severe morning sickness. i am doing at home IV therapy because i was losing alot of weight.
My OB told me that amatryptiline is a big NO NO while pregnant!!! I do however take elmerion as it is safe to take until you are term. I am sorry you are in pain....i dont know what you can take while pregnant but you should call your OB and tell them your in pain and they may have some suggestions. The change in hormones can cause a flare up and there isnt much that u can do for hormones.....
i hope u feel better soon....i know my IC bothers me if i dont get enough fluids which i havnt been because i cant kep anything down!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!! I am so sorry to hear you are hurting! I really think you need to make an appt with your OB to discuss this. There are many pain meds that are safe to take during pregnacy. I had a very difficult pregnancy and was in constant pain too. My OB was very anti-med. But, after researching my options, I found out that there were several meds that were safe to take duriing the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. My OB STILL would not prescribe them. I switched to another one, and thankfully he was very sympathetic. He said that constant pain is very stressful not only to the mother, but also to the baby. He prescribed Meperghan-Fortis (demoral and phenegrin), since I also had nausea and vomiting several times every day, throughout my pregnancy. I hope you find a dr. who will help you. If yours will not, and you dont want to switch, ask for a referral to a pain clinc. (Call around 1st yourself, to find one that has experiance with pain mgmt during pregnacy, in case your dr says he/she doesnt know of one) Then, ask to be referred there.
I wish you the best of luck. This should be a joyous time in your life. It is horrrible that your experiance is has become one of pain. I hope you get some help soon. Hugs, Amy
