Hello, I am new to the group. I have had 3 instillations done in my Dr's
office in last 3 months.
During this time, I have also been told by my GYN, on a Pap smear visit,
that i had a Yeast Infection. He gave me a DIFLUCAN tab to take.

I have been taking Acidophilus capsules (live refrigerated)
for preventative measures to keep the yeast at bay yet
I have not been able to get of this yeast infection -
I have had it off & on for last 3 months!
Also, have been taking Garlic tablets.

Is it due to IC? Do I have Diabetes?
I did have to take Levaquin for 7 days during Flare-up -
but took DIFLUCAN at the end (one tab, then another three days later).

How can I get rid of this Resistant Yeast infection?
I am going for an Instillation this week - can the Urologist do an
"Installation" for a Yeast Infection to clear it up or give me a shot?

I am so surprised, since I have never had a yeast infection not go
away after taking Diflucan, nor have I had one STAY around for so long.
Is this happening due to having IC - does this disease make Yeast
resistant to Diflucan??

Thanks for all your help,
sincerely,
Diane G in Baltimore, MD:smile tee :smile tee

HI

I take Gynozole-1 cream along with a few diflucan. this usually does the trick. Nystatin cream is ok too. Im pretty much allergic to all the other creams though, so put some of the cream on your wrist to check for allergies before use.

raw garlic and yogurt is suppossed to help to prevent, but not cure a yeast infection.
Hope you feel better soon!

My suggestion would be to have a culture done to be certain it's still yeast you're dealing with. And if you're sexually active, your partner should also be checked to be certain this isn't a "shared" infection that's going back and forth. Sometimes a yeast infection can be extremely stubborn to get rid of.

Good luck!

There is a forum about yeast infections that I have found very helpful. I currently have one that is hanging on strong, along with bacterial vaginosis. I just started probiotic of acidiphillus and am hoping that will prevent this from happening in the future. Levaquin always makes me have bad yeast infections!!

ive had this happen to me too...on an off for 3 months now.

my yeast is resistant to diflucan as it was cultured....the only thing that works for me is naziarol 200mg twice a day. I had to cut back to one pill since my uro NP doesnt like to prescribe a lot ...or should i say enough to kill the infection.

very frustrating....and i suffer needlessly. Im going to my other dr at the end of the week and i know he will give me enough to kill it. all the print outs from the pharmacy say treat until its gone.

anyway...i would get a culture done, diflucan did nothing for me.

Being diabetic I often get candida. I get excellent results with Monistat, over the counter. Also it helps to not using fabric softener with your undies. I do a bouble rinse and hang them up to dry. White cotten panties and white toilet paper. No baths. After swimming in chlorinated water and showering, I automatically reach for it. Hope these sugestions help.

So what is the relationship between candida and IC, what should I do I feel like every time I eat I am poisoning myself, and I dont know whats left to eat, eliminate this and that and everything you've ever enjoyed eating your whole life. I can't lose anymore weight, and I want so desperately to get healthy and strong again.
I feel like candida is the real problem and IC is just a manifestations of the symptoms. has any research been done on this relationship before???-B
