I have hematuria due to a mobile kidney , it goes up and down depending on my position. Have you ever heard or thought of microscopic hematuria as a potential cause for bladder irritation?

A lot of ICers have bleeding cracks in their bladder or small ulcers called hunners ulcers, these can dump blood into the urine. Hematuria in itself is a symptom of something else, the question is what is causing the irritation causing the hematuria. Hematuria as a symptom can be painless. If the blood is not coming from the bladder the next culprit is the kidney and the glomeruli.
Hematuria is considered serious enough to investigate the cause if under a microscope there are over 40 red cells in the field and none of the above apply.

Thank you, Sami, yes, I've read a lot about hematuria in the last year, because it frightens me to know I have it. The doctors suppose it is from the mobile kidney, and not from the bladder. My bladder looks fine inside. I have the hematuria before having the IC-like symptoms. They made all the posible tests. But I still feel, what if there is something them missed.
I was wondering, in my question, if the hematuria from the upper part of the urinary tract could irritate the bladder and if the hematuria could be the cause of the IC.
I was a bit confusing since I put this question in the "Symptoms" section

Ela67,
I have a wandering kidney too. And once I had a urinalysis that showed "dysmporphic red blood cells" which seemed to alarm noone. Did the doctor tell you that your ptotic (that's the fancy name) kidney caused it? I wonder if that's why mine had the red blood cells. Apparently when I stand up my one kidney falls down. My uro saw it when I got an IVP and they took a shot with me standing.

Yes, he said that it is possible that the mobile kidney can give hematuria. I also have a small defect of the way the kidney connects with the ureter, either from birth, either from the low position of the kidneys. This can also make hematuria. They were not too clear about it but not worried, either.
So I wonder, what could be the connection between the hematuria and the IC? Or maybe, a ptosis can produce an obstruction somewhere, that can be related somehow with the IC?
My red cells were not dismorphic, I think. I am not sure, but they were not the cast cell kind. If they were not worried, it is probably allright. Don't try to find out yorself about the dismorphic cells, I did make my own research about the hematuria and I was worried sick after that:(
Why do you think you have ptosis? are you, or were you skinny at one point in your life, or do you think you have weak abdominal muscles?

I have always been skinny...and I did gymnastics so I have very strong stomach muscles. After I found out about it my mom told me her mother had had the same thing. I seem to have an undefined connective tissue problem that I think may be related...I have two leaky heart valves due to degeneration, a rib that pops out because the cartilage is stretchy, and the kidney thing.
