Frustrated in LA

I have been experiencing symptoms of IC for 2 years now, though it has merely been suggested that I might have IC. The 3 urologists that I have seen have all nonchalantly mentioned that there are those who don't even think the condition really exists, and if I do have it, there isn't much that can be done. I have tried just about every anti-spasmodic around and though they help with urgency, they do nothing for pain. I have been on Elmiron for about 2 months and have noticed no difference. I have changed my diet. I am reaching the point of desperation and my urologist has basically given up on me. I am wondering if there are any suggestions on how to find a doctor that knows about IC in the LA area. Thanks.

Hummmmm......so, if I.C. doesn't exist then why did I have my bladder removed 6 months ago after living with some type of horrible bladder problems (that had symptoms exactly like I.C.) for 40 years..
Do what Aileen says....Call Dr Raz as fast as you can...P.M. me and I will give you his info....he's awesome!

Great! He is THE BEST I.C. Dr on the West Coast...I have flown from Seattle 5 times to see him and have him do my bladder removal...he is so understanding and caring...

I hate to say it, but I'm not impressed with the attitudes of those Uro's you've seen! They seem to have thrown in the towel for you way too early!

Sorry to hear you've been having a rough time of it. It sounds like you have a good lead on a doctor from these other replies. A good doctor you can work with is so important!

I just wanted to say that Elmiron typically takes some time before benefits are seen from it. 6 months or more is not uncommon, so hang in there!
