My brother told me about this organization. I have not used it, but thought that others may be interested in the services. The website indicates that the organization takes food stamps. No qualifications are required for the services. The website contains a monthly menu and lists of the churches where food can be purchased. Just something that can be added to the resources available to help anyone make their dollars go further. Website is

I just recently found out about this group. Anyone can use this program it is not just for low income families, one pays $25.00 for a list of different meats and vegetables and can also buy a special for an extra $10.00 to $18.00 depending which package deal you prefer. This will be the fifth time of food delivery since it started. I am so glad for this program what foods we don't care for we give to the neighbors or our children, nothing goes to waste.
Thank God for this Angel, we all need a break from the expenses of life.
Take care and help each other always.

Geez...i was all excited until i saw that there was no site in Wa or Or...Asi is la vida. Our monthly income is going to be decreased by $800 and I've been trying to find ways to trim the budget. It's not easy. I was going to go back to work this fall and had a terrible setback so my doc said "no work for at least a year". I feel so guilty and terrible, so I am on a quest to find a way to save money.

For MakinIT:

Is there a Food Bank or Food Pantry in your area? I help once a month at a Food Pantry in our little community. People come in and, based on the number in the family, receive groceries to help. The requirements aren't hard to meet --- so far we haven't turned anyone down.

A good way to find out about resources in your area is to telephone St. Vincent dePaul, Salvation Army, or Good Will.

Just wanted to make people aware that in our area, there are several churches that have food banks. I am sure that many churches all over the US do this. At our church, lots of us grow gardens too, and we all bring in our surplus and put it on a big table. Anybody that wants anything from the table can have it. That part, is not based on income or anything. We also have a room where we take clothes and things that no longer fit and anyone that needs the items can have them. At back to school time, all the moms bring in the clothes the kids have out grown and we pile them up and everyone goes thru them to get whatever they can use. It is a very handy way to do it. We all get to socialize and get rid the stuff the kids cant wear, and come home with jeans and other things for the new school year. Anyone interested should call their area churches and see if they have any programs like these.

Mare,
I have been getting food from this network for 3 months and it has saved me alot in cost of food. You get about 100.00 worth of food for 25.00. If anyone needs to find where there is one in your area, google search it, click for your state, and it will give you the locations. I just did this for my mom a minute ago and it was so easy. Even if you don't need assistance buying food, it is such a good deal, it is hard to pass up.:smile tee They take food stamps, cash, and checks. I am in Spartanburg SC and there are about 5 sites in this county alone. So for anyone that needs to stretch a food buget this is great. Also, the food is excellent quality. Just like you would choose for yourself at the grocery store.
