Hello,
my wife was diagnosed with IC a few months ago we read a lot about it and bought a book called "Along the Healing Path". It tought us a lot of herbs and supplements that may be helpful. Marshmallow root, Comfrey leaf, Catnip, Raspberry leaf Ext... are some we started using if anyone has used thee herbs or knows how to get some more flavor in these teas let me know.
Thanks,
kyle

Kyle:
I take the marshmallow in capsule form as I thought the tea was so bland.
It is one of the best for inflammation, and although Katrina thinks it acted as a diuretic for her, I have not found this to be so in my case.
I can drink Peppermint tea and that mixes well with other teas. If your wife can take Peppermint tea then maybe just mix it with something else, even juice to give it more flavor.

I drink marshmallow root tea (MRT) and I can add a little honey or sugar (I am fortunate to be able to also use Splenda). I can drink peppermint tea, single herb, nothing but peppermint, and I will add some of that to the MRT. Gives it a little kick. If shes going to try that, make sure its a bit weak for the first try, never know if she may react to it, not all of us can handle the same things. I've heard of the others but have never used them.

I just tried Throat Coat non caffeine which contains licorice, marshmallow, slippery elm, fennel and cinnamon. Supposed to coat the throat but so far bladder friendly and tastes good.

First of all, hugs for being such a wonderful support system for your wife.
That was the first book that I purchased after being diagnosed with IC. Isn't it wonderful. I found it so helpful. She has another one called "to wake in tears", equally as good !
I have an herb garden and I grow Lemon balm, pepperming and orange mint for teas. The lemon balm is great used as a tea and has a mild wonderful relaxing taste. To give it a little zip I will add some honey but I very much like the taste on its own. I have also tried marshmallow root tea and again will add some honey to give it that little zip ! The catnip tea, is it good ? Oh my if I drank that I'd have my kitties all over me...lol

I totally agree that it is great that you are supporting your wife so well!:woohoo::woohoo:
I have a herb garden too....but with my appetitie I usually make capsuls of the majority of the things I grow.
I really love herbal treatments but I highly suggest that everyone try just one at a time....so that if you react badly you know what you are reacting to.
Some have worked out great for me.....help me to get off of some of these medications....but not all and it helps to know what ones bother you!!

marshmallow root tea helped me a great deal. Just remember start out with a small dose and work your way up. HONEY is yummy if she can tolerate it!
You are a wonderful husband supporting your wife like this
Good luck.
