Did I do permanent damage to my bladder by having a baby?

I am so scared. I had a son 9 months ago via c-section and flared through the entire pregnancy. I had six months of bladder relief after that and have been flaring ever since. I have been trying so many medications to get back under control. Nothing is helping. I don't get it! I had MANY years of remission just taking Elmiron before having him. I'm still on it and this is happening. This is so hard to deal with while trying to take care of him! What am I going to do when he's walking soon? I'm not well enough to chase him around! Three months ago when this all started I had a uti. It cleared but the IC didn't! Then people are mentioning possibility of scar tissue from c-seection pushing on bladder. My urologist says that's not likely to happen. Even if possible removing scar tissue would be a surgery procedure again to promote more scar tissue to come back! I love my son and all but have a hard time really wondering if I was meant to be a mom. I feel like my son and husband (who is very supportive thank God) are being jipped. Is there ever going to be relief again? I want my life back! Are there other moms out there who flared after c-section but got better? Please write me! I can use all the hope I can get! Ann

I didn't flare after a c-section - but my IC started after my second c-section. My symptoms appeared out of nowhere 1 month after that c-section. :( I do feel very good now, thanks to a combination of medicines that have been working for some time now.

Hang in there! Am I reading correctly that you were OK, but then a UTI after the c-section got it all started again????

Yes, actually I came home from the hospital after having him with a huge uti (I get one everytime I have a catheter placed). Then when the uti cleared I finally had relief again after a full pregnancy flare up. Then 3 months ago I had another uti and after clearing that one I've been flaring up with my IC ever since. I have been trying numerous combinations of meds during the last three months none of which are doing a thing. I'm really scared! I had years of relief from the IC before having a baby. It was nice to be active!

Are you sure the infection cleared? Have you had repeat cultures?
It's a really good sign that you had a remission. It could very well happen again. If not, you will find something to help so you can chase your son around when he is walking. My youngest was one when I was diagnosed and somehow I managed to raise both daughters. You will be able to also.
Are you going back on Elmiron?

I was cultured again to make sure the UTI has cleared and it has. I also had a culture done recently. Also, yes I am on Elmiron again. I was put back on during pregnncy by the gynecologist actually and have not discontinued since. Ann
